Guess again. No way in hell Nonis makes that trade.

That's classic Wang. He is one of the richest owners(barring the big corporate ownerships) but is so tight fisted with his money in regards to the Islanders. Why does he even own that team if he doesn't seem to care about it?

Sports teams make for great tax breaks in America. I wouldn't say that's the entire story, but probably part of it

I guess its safe to say that Kesler was the domino that didnt fall on Deadline day.

Sounds like if Gillis and the Nucks had pulled the trigger on Kesler to PIT, we probably would have seen another 10+ trades because of that move.

Anywho, the rumored Kesler deals that were ultimately declined were...

Pittsburgh: Sutter, 1st, 2nd (Both 2014)
Anaheim: Etem, 1st, 2nd (Both 2014; believed to be Anaheim's 1st)
Don't think the Pens have a 2nd this year, or am I mistaken?

If those were the offers for Kesler, I see why they weren't accepted.

Who knows really, Ottawa has been hearing rumours for PAP to the Sens all season, Wiercioch's name has been mentioned as well but with no source confirmation it's hard to speculate.

It is less than 1/2 of 1/4 of $7m. I find it hard to believe they said not, and that is to 50% if it was 25% or less even less believable. It has to be false. You even have Nonis being quoted as saying the deadline deals were too rich for his blood.

Seems like a fishy, pile on the Islanders because Wang's a cheap ass beat up.

Gillis- "Hello Mr. Aquilini, I have a trade on the table that will improve this franchise. Kesler to the Penguins for Magic Beans. They havent told me what about the Beans is Magic but I'm willing to take that Risk"

Aquilini- "Stop.....Just stop...Touching...Anything...."

It's pretty much this. The guy doesn't give a **** about hockey. Thats why Snow gets away with these awful...awful trades. Wang doesn't know the difference between Tavares and Tabaracci.

He actually cares a lot about the team, fought long term to keep them in LI and was trying to at any means necessary. However, I do think he has a touch of hockey ignorance and leaves to much on the table for Snow to screw up as a result.

A touch?
He tried to get sumo wrestlers to try out as goalies for the Isles

It was a understated on purpose.

For anyone to state he doesn't care is pretty poor though, with a good GM that team would turn around IMO.

Apparently Snow turned down the Moulson offer because he didn't want to take on any salary.

Also, Garrioch reporting that Cammalleri wasn't moved after Burke refused to back down from his ask of a 1st-rounder in return.

Gagner for Clifford +. Fell apart because the + offered from LA wasn't enough for Edmonton.

Wasn't the PIT offer for Kesler something like: Sutter + 1st + choice of Despres/someone else? Maybe there was a second in there as well, can't remember.

You are correct. The Pens used the pick to acquire Douglas Murray last season.

Brian Dumoulin supposedly was the other defenseman. The Pens didn't have a second round pick to offer.

From what I heard the most serious team calling on Spezza was the Avs

Garth Snow said on a radio interview that he didn't receive any offers for Vanek outside of Montreal's.

i wonder how snow has a job sometimes. is it not worth keeping some salary on an expiring contract when you have plenty of cap space in order to get the max return on an asset????

arguably the most dynamic winger available at the deadline and only montreal came a knocking. doesnt make sense. if this is in fact true (and i doubt it), snow should get his phone lines and internet connection checked)
