1. Melnyk - With a competent owner, this team would have been able to offer Alfredsson a respectful contract as well as made the Ryan trade, resulting in a solid top 6 and an intact leadership core. With a competent owner, the Sens would have made a trade (e.g. anything for Brian Campbell) within the first 6 weeks of the season when it was obvious that the defense was a major issue.

2. MacLean - For all the reasons I posted in the MacLean thread. i.e. Poor defensive system, misuse of players, not having the team ready to play.

3. Murray - He's been handcuffed by a lack of funds. Tough to blame him. Although the Phillips signing is dumb when we're already stuck with a gluttony of bottom pairing defenseman.

Melnyk, it starts at the top. The summer was embarrassing.

The rest don't matter to me, those would be better if the first didn't exist.

We had boatloads of cap space, and we didn't take advantage of it at all, no neat trades to take advantage of cap teams during the summer.

and more Murray. Funny he built this mess yet it's never his fault, hey let's give someone in our division a star goalie for nothing...
Hey let's dress a bunch of second year players and wonder what could go wrong, while he's at it might as well throw out prospects and draft picks like candy.
I mean who needs those, he is going for a cup

Melnyk told Murray to give the alf what he wanted, Murray tried to play smart guy and save a few dollars pissing off the alf and sending him on his way

I would say Melnyk and then the players... too many passengers right now. They need to get engaged.

Definitely on the players. No excuses! I haven't been very fond of the lines Maclean has put together on most nights but this team just hasn't even showed up to play on way to many occasions this season. ON THE PLAYERS!

I say melnyk for continuing to extend Murray, not making alfie a priority especially considering the relationship alfie had with Karl and others, and expecting fans to buy his constant bs.
His incompetence trickles down everywhere.

Close second to Murray.

Don't know where Maclean fits in, but he's in the somewhere.

The owner gave him no money and expects him to make the playoffs. He does the best he can, unfortunately he is not a miracle worker.

Murray's the one who's been giving our best winger less minutes than Chris Neil? Murray's the one who refuses to bench Greening no matter what? Murray's putting Condra in our top 6? (I love Condra and think he's our best bottom 6 player, but there's no reason for him to be on Turris' wing)

Murray's the one giving the team a hard cap of ~$50million dollars?

Melnyk first. His cheapass behaviour and "I wanna casino waaaaaaaaaaa!" bs forced our face of the franchise out of town, imposed an artificial cap on the team and has forced Murray to ice a sub-par roster. His dumb "cost per point" isn't working either, by the way.

MacLean second for alienating Ryan, mishandling goaltenders, subpar player choices and just general ineptness.

Murray last of all, he's built some good pieces but this team badly, badly needs an experienced "D" yet he keeps adding forwards and seems oblivious to the defensive issues.

Players? They're only capable of so much. Give them a bunch of charcoal and you can't expect the Sistine Chapel...

The moment Melnyk said our goal was to just to get into the playoffs because after that, anything can happen, I knew we were screwed.

Melnyk, both for continuing to extend Bryan Murray's contract and going cheap with the roster.

First ryan has alienated himself just like he did on his last team, I don't know his issues but stating "those guys work good together" he seems to think he does not fit in anywhere, could be long term mental issues from his family running away and changing his name so deep down inside he feels like there is something wrong with himself,
second he did not mishandle his goaltenders in any way shape or form,
the starter was sucking so when they tried to give the job to the backup he sucked and has sucked ever since. I would hardly call it the coaches fault when the goalie can't stop a puck to save his life.

Why do I have to pick one? All three of them have done a piss poor job at making the Senators a good hockey team.

On Ryan: He was working amazingly well with Turris and Mac, but MacLean started bouncing him around. Mac reduced his icetime and instead of pumping him after Burke dropped the "I-Bomb" he let him rot. I can't speak to any psych issues he has/doesn't have, pure conjecture.

Yeah, he has mishandled the goalies. Lehner Player of Week, starts Anderson. Anderson struggling a ton, goes almost a month between starts for Lehner. It's just a huge mess.
