He definitely has a shot. We have atleast 2, possibly 3 holes to fill for forwards and no money left to fill them. Basically its between him, Bourque, Matt Keith, Thornton, Vorobiev and Yakubov.

Id say his chances are 50/50

I watched Matty play in his last year of junior with Red Deer, he was one of their most consistant players all year long, and I really liked the way he played. I definitely think he has a good shot at making the Blackhawks this year. Also Matt Keith and Yakubov also former Red Deer Rebels have a definite shot as well.

As I see it, there are three spots. Thornton is a lock, because we need a goon. I'd say that there's a great chance that Bourque will get one of the other two. This leaves Matt Keith, Vorobiev, and Ellison to fight for the last one

I think it depends what they're looking for...more physical-Keith, more offense-Ellison, more ????-Vorobiev.

but i think hopefully, with the year of nhl strike, and a strong showing in junior he has improved in his week area's. He did great in Norfolk last year, and him and Keith show some kind of chemistry together, and under the right tutallege it could be like Oates and hull all over again.

I liked what I saw when I went to the games he played against the giants--both Matts looked good

You beat me to her, MM.

I really liked Matty as well... I think he could turn out to be one of those guys who may not be known to most NHL fans, but who will be very well respected among his team's fans. One of those guys that Flames fans didn't know was so good, until he does a number on them in the playoffs. He's a good player.
