That may be true, but I would still rather they don't have a world class goaltender. It would take alot for them to miss the playoffs next season but I without Miller there is a better chance they do or atleast a higher chance they go out in the first round. The poster I was responding to indicates he would rather Miller sign and they go out in the first round so we move up a few picks in this years draft. Under my better case scenario I would prefer to move up a few spots in next years stronger draft. Is it likely they miss? No, but stranger things have happened (especially in a loaded western conference).

Isles are getting smoked right now in Vancouver. Teams have games in hand on them. I have no idea how in the world they don't finish 4th or even 3rd worst in the league when it's all said and done?

And i don't know how the Isles can justify to their fans for giving up a 3-4 pick.

Next year will be fun, watching a fairly young Sabres team and wishing Isles can land up Connor McDavid.

McDavid is fun to talk about and all, but hoping the league allows him here will just lead to disappointment.

We're unlikely to get him mathematically speaking but the idea the league won't let us get him is silly

Agreed, anyone that is putting McDavid in their future plans is quite optimistic. We're getting Eichel as a consolation prize once the Sabres get screwed at the draft per usual.

My hope is that we DO get Eichel. That's not to say I wouldn't take McDavid over him because I would, but I'm a bigger fan of Eichel and landing him is more likely. Unfortunately it's quite possible we get neither. Even still you have Barzal, Strome and others at forward; Hanifin and Kylington on the back-end.

My "realist's ideal scenario" is getting #2 this year, Eichel @ #2 next year, and either a top 5 2014 or top 10 2015 pick from the Islanders. That'd be fan-friggin-tastic.

I'd be just fine coming out of the next 2 drafts with either:

Bennett and Dal Colle/Draisatl and Eichel

OR

Bennett and Eichel and Barzal/Strome

If the Isles go on a little winning streak and Canes, Calgary, Nashville, Canucks continue there downward trend were looking at probably having the Isles 1st this year. Right now there picking 5th, which I think they keep. If it ends up being 6-8 I bet they keep next years.

I think you may have the most realistic idea yet. Due to the new drafting rules. and assumption we are last place next year we should land Eichel hopefully.

Islanders got their only win allowed for the rest of the year. Tank on Wang, 2015 party time excellent

I don't think people realize that even Getting Draisaitl and Barzal which could be worst case scenario would go a long way to finishing the rebuild

The participants, some with bags over their heads and some carrying banners, plan to meet in the parking lot between the coliseum and the Marriott hotel between 4:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. wearing their Islanders jerseys inside out.

* With 4:00 remaining in every period, they will chant: WE WANT ANSWERS

They still have one more year on his buyout, heh. With the $2.2 million cap hit its the least he could do.

...and don't forget "Starring as co-special guest Rick DiPietro".

I'm going to Saturday night's game against the Isles!

First chance I've had this year to go to a game.

I will report back on the fan protest.

Why? Their situation is hopeless, so it makes sense. They have a TERRIBLE owner and a bad GM. This franchise should be buzzing with anticipation of rejuvenating move to Brooklyn but instead it's hitting a low point all over again.

Exactly. Like I said, top 5 pick this year or top 10 (but hopefully about top 6) next year would be awesome return for Vanek. Dude was an impending UFA.
