Not to start anything, but is anybody else growing a little concerned about Murray's development given his shoulder and now his knee?

No.

But that's just my opinion.

I've thought about it ...

Every player is different. I've seen guys have major injuries that have seemingly derailed their entire career (Brett Connolly) ... and I've seen guys have serious injuries that have only side tracked them temporarily (Jared Cowen).

The most clear example for me is Jared Spurgeon, who is currently pairing with Ryan Suter in Minnesota. Spurgeon came onto the WHL scene as a talented 16 year old, but suffered a couple of major injuries that year. As a 17 year old, hopes were high that he could become another Kris Russell type of guy, before a concussion sidelined him for a good chunk of the season, along with other nagging injuries. As an 18 year old, we had only seen him play 84 WHL games and didn't know what to expect ... but, he had a huge year that year, proving himself one of the top defensemen in the league, and has gone on to a nice career in the NHL.

Hopefully, Murray learns a lot from seeing the game from above, rehabs himself, and comes back a better player next year.

Right, but there are also guys like Klesla and Erik Johnson, highly touted defensemen who suffered injuries early in their careers. Not that I'm saying he's injury prone, but it is concerning that his development may be impacted.

What exactly is his knee injury? He isn't coming back from a torn ACL in 5-6 weeks. It sounds like a rather "minor" injury, the type that doesn't wreck careers.

Would be a big addition if he can come back for the playoffs, or even before so he could get his legs.

The question is, who do you pull for him?

Todd Richards says Ryan Murray will make trip to Philly today, could play either Friday or Sunday at home. #CBJ

I hope they aren't rushing him back, and have no reason to think they are. He's too important for that. Protect the future.

Having said that, if he is ready to go I feel A LOT better about our chances of making the playoffs.

Assuming he's close to 100%; this could be huge.

Would be a nice boost to the roster going down the home stretch........but what we really need is a boost at the other end of the ice.

Agreed. But I believe part of the problem with our scoring in the first place has been the lack of Murray's first pass out of the zone.

My best guess is he had some cartilage cleaned up or it was a meniscus issue.

Exactly. Having Murray back in the lineup stabilizes the back end, where most of our offense is generated, whether its Murray or Wiz.

Such a calming presence on the ice and at 20 that's spectacular.

Murray didn't look like he missed a beat last night. Solid game, and a beauty goal. Put the shot where it needed to be.

He's going to get better and that's such an exciting thought.

That pass he lifted from our defensive zone faceoff dot to Frattin was amazing. Unfortunately Frattin couldn't handle it. If it had been Johansen that would've been a goal.

I said the same thing to my dad at the arena last night. Murray and Johnson were the best defensemen on the ice last night.
