Goalie Situation!

hey hows everyone doing!
i was a huge kings fan in the early 90's when Hrudey was their!
ive always liked them but now their like my favorite again with both Jeremy Roenick
& Val Bure their!!! good pickups!

but i was wondering whats the goalie situation this year for the kings!

Will Garon be the starter or are they shopping for a netminder? theirs a few ufa goalies left that are capable i guess lol

thanks

No it doesn't look like we are after anyone. It looks like Garon will be the # 1 goalie. His back up is LaBarbera 25, (Former Ranger Goalie) who has put up great numbers in the AHL and he's going to battle for the # 1 spot but I expect Garon to win the battle.

watch out for adam hauser. look at the kid's numbers in the minors. He put up better numbers than garon in manchester last year. His numbers the year prior were pretty good as well. Management also signed laberra from the rangers. That guy set some records in the AHL. I don't think the goaltending in la is an issue. I think we're set. Hrudey sucked so bad, we're much better off with the three we have now than we were with Hrudey and staubber. Staubber was tight though.

Everyone over looks hauser. The kid can play apparently and he should get a shot to be tested at the nhl level this year. If he doesn't don't be surprised when this young goalie moves on and rocks in some other nhl city.

Yeah, but the Kings are going to give LaBarbera every chance to win a roster spot since he's going to make 1.5 million over 2 years.

I think its going to be a battle for number one. I think the org is set with goalies but i wouldn't say any one of them is the surefire starter. It's going to be a three way battle for the number one spot along with the backup postion. I really hope hauser gets a fair shot. THe kid's numbers have been insane.

If the kings sign cujo or some other UFA garbage goalie i will be so pissed. Hauser Garon or laberera will pull as a starter.

...

I heard DT say his idea of a good scenario would be Garon playing 50 games and LaBarbera 30 games. It could very well be the other way around, but it's Garon's job to lose.

I actually loved Hrudy. He was wild. Some games he could just close the door and not let anything. Yet of course other games, he would let in anything. But I liked him a lot it was a lot of fun in the early 90s.

Stauber was tight.

I've been a hardcore LA fan since the year before Gretzky (1987). I don't think I ever remembered Stauber being even halfway decent. He was basically a fill in for when Hrudey got injured. When he did win games, they were like 9-6 or 7-4. Don't remember his G.A. being that great either.

By the way, my two favs have always been Robitaille (from the beginning) and Kelly Hrudey.
While Hrudey certainly had his ups and downs, he's still the only goalie to ever get to the ONLY Stanley Cup appearance for the Kings. He played well enough to get us to the show. Yes, we had Gretzky, but it also takes a decent goalie. I still remember that crazy blue scarf thing he'd always have around his mask.
Of course, we were up 1-0 in Montreal and about to win the second game with about a minute remaing when Mcsorley....damn, it's too painful to remember.

Agree, and then there's Hauser waiting in the wings in case of injury.

Don't forget Ron Grahame, a standup goaltender who couldn't play the angles and would wander out to the blueline in a futile attempt to play errant pucks!!

People loved Hrudey because he would wow them with his acrobatics, but it was merely a case of him making easy saves look difficult, usually because he was out of position and had to scramble. He was a flopper, plain and simple; have to admit that he was effective at times though...

Do you happen to sit in 323 at Staples? I'm in 324 myself.
