Pretty cool.

He'll have a chance to overtake Brett MacLean as the best NHLer from my hometown.

P.S. For anyone wondering, his last name is pronounced Church-man.

I've been told to be on the lookout for more college players signing with us in the coming weeks.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Summerhays, the goalie from Notre Dame sign here. He's had a great run in the NCAA and has played with Anders Lee there and in the USHL (Green Bay).

I mentioned him last year.

Not for nothing, but that's one former USHL goalie I wouldn't mind us getting. The few times I watched Lee, I was equally impressed with Summerhays.

Have not been told anyone in particular but I would presume a bigger name player at one of the schools that will be in the NCAA tournament.

I'd be on board with that. He'd immediately be our best goalie in the system, really.

Nice to see the Islanders make these signings, but have any of them worked out for us? Hillen is the only one I can remember that had NHL impact.

Just read about Czuczman's (pronounced "Church-man") signing. It's a good signing by the Islanders and should add some good depth in their system.

SneekyPete touched on some Czuczman's skills, so I'll add some more to it. Yes, I've seen LSSU play several times this season and each year Czuczman was there.

He's also a great skater that moves the puck really well. He QBed the Lakers PP. Until this season, he hadn't been all that much of a physical presence. But the fact that he's added a lot more it, along with his size and strength, has made him more effective in shutting down opposing players and taking them of the puck this season. He delivers some solid checks and can do so without taking himself out of plays.

Hope this helps.

Well, it's a bit early, but I'm pretty sure Lee was one of these signings.

Lets hand out precious contracts to unlikely guys like czucman and let guys like kichton go unsigned. Nice move garth!

How much do you think they paid Czuczman compared to what Kichton would have got. #wearecheapbastages

I like hearing that ! Someone that size that's a great skater, is a pretty good find.

I doubt this very much. When's the last time the Islanders EVER signed a BIG NAMED college player ? Jason Krog ?
