I tried to watch for him last night and didn't notice him much. So this play was pretty much my first impression of him. Too funny

He's also played three more games where he should than Iginla did. Just saying . . .

Iginla had 11 in 13 last year, playing on a new team for the first time in forever AND in an uncomfortable position (literally).

I know it's cute to talk **** on Iginla, but it's also wrong.

The fact that he has nearly 50 pts in 60-odd games this year seems to suggest that he not only hasn't lost it, but playing him on his off-wing wasn't some stroke of genius gone terribly awry.

One was played in his correct position with Crosby, and the other was played out of position (one he played his entire career) with Malkin and Neal who didn't need him.

Great comparison. More an indictment on Bylsma than anything. If Iginla was on Crosby's wing last season he'd have done similar. Zero doubt in my mind.

the first period was very good
--- any game in which MAF masks our passive and suddenly uninspired play
+first line was solid
-Neal cannot score anymore
+/-Geno from great first 15 minutes to MIA
Fourth line was very unimpressive,

When will your blind hatred for Bylsma end?

He's also gotten more time at his natural position on the 1st line than Iginla ever did.

Maybe that had something to do with Bylsma barely playing him?

From someone who's a big fan of the trade and of Goc, that has nothing to do with Glass and Adams (who weren't bad tonight). I'm just saying, tonight wasn't his best game, after three very good games from him. I'm super pumped we have him going in to the playoffs. That is the exact type of player we needed.

You know, I'm just going to chock that up to inexperience and learning the game... because that truly was pathetic.

Because he was getting pressured at the point.

Eh. It was stupid to play Iggy on his off wing. But Stempniak just fits with Sid better. Has the wheels. And makes the little plays to let Sid do his thing. Iggy is a better fit in Boston.

I thought Despres was so-so. So I can't fault DB for his limited minutes in the third.

But I just don't know what to make of Geno under DB. I mean, I'm not sure it's a good thing longterm to not trust the guy late in games.

No... that can't be it. This team is 1st in the East, and they just won the game. Bylsma is infallible.

-----Geno

He was invisible in the final 10 minutes when the game was at it's most important. So anti-clutch

It's looking like a solid top 6 acquisition. If he has a few years in him playing at this level, I'd sign him for Sid's wing. And then alot of our troubles up front are solved. Beau with Geno and Neal. Dupes on the third line.

Caps fans are comparing him to Kolvachuk and Malkin. I just don't see it. He looks weak and slow. A long way from being an impact player.

I've heard a lot about the supposed blind hatred of Bylsma. But using Stempniak vs Iginla to defend Bylsma is just. . . blind.

I know. I was being facetious.

Personally, assuming Beau ever returns from the morgue, I'd run Kunitz-Sid-Stempniak, Beau-Geno-Neal, JJ-Sutter-Goc and just give spot duty to my fourth liners.

But, whether he lives or not, none of this really matters until the playoffs come. Some good things this game, but even that really doesn't matter.

Of all the dumb things Bylsma did last year, this was the worst.

Yeah let's change a PP that's running at 35% and then not touch it when it's running at 0%. Makes sense.
