What are your top 10 Rangers games of this season?

I am splitting my season tickets with 3 other guys and we're going to have a draft at the end of the month to divvy up the games. It will be just like the NHL draft was where we pick 1-4 and then 4-1 and so on. I'm thinking about my draft strategy and was wondering what most Rangers fans would think are the top games to go for this season. Which 10 games would you want?

Current order of games selected so far (my selections in Bold):

1) 10/13 vs. NJ
2) 10/6 vs. Montreal
3) 2/10 vs. Toronto
4) 10/31 vs. Montreal
5) 11/7 vs. Pittsburgh
6) 4/18 vs. Ottawa
7) 11/20 vs. Boston
8) 10/27 vs. NYI
9) 12/22 vs. Tampa Bay
10) 10/19 vs. NYI
11) 12/1 vs. Pittsburgh
12) 1/5 vs. Philadelphia
13) 1/28 vs. Pittsburgh
14) 12/18 vs. Colorado
15) 2/1 vs. Pittsburgh
16) 1/30 vs. Philadelphia
17) 3/18 vs. Toronto
18) 1/12 vs. EDMONTON
19) 11/5 vs. New Jersey
20) 1/10 vs. Calgary
*21) 2/8 vs. Ottawa
22) 3/20 vs. Boston
23) 10/15 vs. Atlanta

i knew that would come up...just didn't think it would be the first post. i should have said you can only have half the games against divisional opponents. so basically any 5 games total against NYI, PHI, PIT, NJ, and 5 games against anyone else.

ditto bob

those were the four teams i immediately thought of but since its a draft its unlikely he'll get them all

my interest in these is a considerable drop off from those above but if i had to chose
Toronto (good team)
Boston (Leetch)

very mild interest
Atlanta (kovalchuk, Lehtonen, Heatley)
Washington (Ovechkin)

the rest i wouldn't care

October 6th vs. Montreal - home opener.
Nov 7th vs. Pitt - Sidney Crosbys first ever game at the garden. Should have been oct 6th.
Nov 20th vs. Boston - should be at the top of list. Leetchs return should be a big night.
Jan 12th Vs. Edmonton - in case Messier signs with them, it might be a big night.

All the games vs. NYI, PHI, NJD, and PITT should be on your list as well.

Dont waste tickets on seeing Rangers vs Devils. If you want to go to an exciting game pass on those.

If I was picking I would want the 1 Isles game as there are 4 so you're assured of atleast 1 maybe 2 if you get the #4 pick and some picks opening night instead of an Isles game you can get 2 Isles game., From there I'd try to get a few West games as they are teams you don't see to often try the Avs, and Nucks, a few Flyers games, Pitt, Leafs, Sens, maybe Mtl and Atlanta depending on you you have left. Try to avoid Caps, Buffalo. Just my .02.

About the Isles games, in Oct. and Apr. we play them at home twice in about a week. Would the general view be to go for the first or second game each time? I was leaning towards the second as things usually carry over from prior contests.

You know, it's hard for me not to say "The 10 games we'll win this season", but I wouldn't say anything like that.

I know we all love rivalries but my #1 has to be Rangers vs Penguins for obvious reasons .

Go to NYR vs MTL, First home game of the season Oct.6th. Get a few vs. NYI and PHI, and one vs. Boston, and the rest won't matter. Save one for the night when they retire #11, and call it a season.

have you ever been to a NYI vr NYR game? how about NYR vr PHI!!!

crosby may be all that but nothing beats intense games like that.. closest thing to playoff atmosphere we've had in the garden in recent years

Are you kidding? I've been going to games for seven plus years now and not ONE PLAYOFF GAME!

Sure. The atmosphere is great for Isles games. But that's cause our team actually shuts most of those fans up.

The Devils? What's so great about seeing our team lose everytime?

Flyers? Same thing.

Sure. The rivalries are intense. But it's not the same when our team can't buy a win against two of the three to save their lives.

I'd much rather see Sid the kid and Malkin if he signs than those two teams which kick our ass.

I don't think Mess announced his retirement yet, it ain't over till it's over! They'll announce it when they need to sell out a game, don't worry. It's the MSG way. Anyway, I gave up my seasons this year but with the unbalanced schedule it was hard for me to pick even 10 games that I would want to attend; anyhow, without further ado, here are my picks:

10/6 MTL: Home opener, wish I could be there to boo/cheer along with you guys.

10/27 NYI: One of my best friends is an Isles fan; his bday is halloween and I took him to a game for his bday every year. If I was there, this would be it.

11/7 PIT: A game against PIT on a Monday in NOV is usually nothing special. Maybe it will be this year.

11/20 BOS: Leetch returns, Sunday night game (loved those). No brainer.

12/22 TBL: Champs coming to town to spank the NYR the game before XMAS; "ride the rail Santa, ride the rail!"

1/10 CAL: O Canada..Iginla, Simon, Drury et al.

1/22 NJD: I was having trouble picking 10; if I had to pick a devs game, Sunday night it is. I used to sell all my devils tickets. Borrrring. Loss/tie too.

1/30 PHI: No explanation necessary

2/10 TOR: Gotta see one Leafs game; original 6 matchups are where it's at. Maybe Eric will still be playing (unlikely). Always a good atmosphere at the Garden when the Leafs are in town.

3/12 ATL: I always like the Thrashers games, best young talent in the East. Plus, Savard, Petro and Vyacheslav Kozlov. BOOOOO Holik. hee hee

Bakers dozen: (ok, 11): The season finale against Ottawa, 4/18. Blueshirts off our backs night. Maybe they'll even stay on the ice this season.

Good luck and enjoy the season. Since I typed this all out let us know what you wind up with!

huh? i think you misunderstood my post

and fwiw devil games are boring, i said that.. i remember walking in the garden in the second period only to see we were down by 7 goals already, they are not only boring for us always losing but because theres never anything exciting going on in the games............ but flyer games on the other hand, you can really get into it, and its usually close if we lose and i dont think we lose that many against them

They wouldn't be boring if our team competed. But the Devils always treated those games like it was for a Cup. And our team was a collection of misfits. Maybe that will change this year. I want to see more passion.

I don't care if we lose. As long as the players bust their ***** and leave it out there, then I won't be upset.

I hate Cryer fans. Most are a bunch of pompous *****. Should have seen them at this one game a couple of yrs ago. Ridiculous.

Half that fanbase is already celebrating like they won the Cup.

I don't continue to go cause I like losing. I go for the environment and the enjoyment of watching the best spectator sport live.

Fans upstairs make it worthwhile. You have to think eventually, it will turn around. I feel they're on the right track.

Great strategy here. Even if Messier doesn't sign with Edmonton if they(Rangers) should decide to retire his number, they'd be sure to do it when Edmonton was in town so they could share in the festivities. Leetch and Boston is a good one.

ok, the draft order has been determined and i have the #2 pick overall. so i'll be picking 2, 7, 10, 15, and 18 for my first five games. i'm curious to see what game goes first overall, but i'm leaning towards opening night or one of the October Islanders games as my first pick.

Aside from the four Isles games at Msg, I want to see at least two Crosby games and I'm looking forward to seeing Forsberg in the Eastern Conference. I also want to see Ovechkin, Leetch's first game at Msg.

The day of looking forward to the Western Conference teams are just not what they used to be. I always looked forward to stars on those teams that made those games worth going to but now it's just not marketed as well. Does Ignila even come to the area this year? I want to see Gretzky coaching a game live.
