Just realized that news is old-hat. How about some more advance stats to pass the time...what is the Rangers record when it's unseasonably cool this year?

No need to mess with the third or fourth lines.
The Koog approves, that's a five!

Hags-Stepan-Nash

Best line last year.

Kreider-Richards-MSL

Good line, Richards feeds Kreider to shoot or MSL to shoot or find Kreider. Kreider crashes net. He's similar to some of the younger players MSL has played with in Tampa.

Leave 3rd and 4th alone. Do it AV.

I have a feeling MSL will pot a few points tonight. He's about due.

Plus, I refuse to believe yet another superstar player will come here and not be able to score.

Who are the other superstars who have done that?

I mostly suggested moving Pouliot instead of Kreider because I have almost no confidence in Hagelin anymore. If anybody can pick him up right now its Zucc and Brass, not Step and Nash. Also, no I didn't watch a lot of Tampa that year, maybe one game every week or so, more so at the beginning of the year though. Maybe it was more Lecavalier than St. Louis, but I thought every time I saw it that that line was really good. Also, I more meant muscle in reference to AV's comment about a net presence. Muscle and TUFFness are not synonyms in my book and this year especially Pouliot has proven that he will go to the toughest areas, play phyically, and earn us territory in all three zones. He's no Lucic, but you don't have to be to use a 6'3" frame effectively, and I think Pouliot has thus far.

My east coast team vs my west coast team. Hoping for a 0-0 game with the Rangers taking it in the shootout.

The lines should have been switched up games ago so I really hope AV changes the lines tonight. We went from a coach who changes lines constantly to a coach that is married to his lines, I just wish there was a middle ground.

So far as having a net presence on each line, I'm not even sure we have enough players to accomplish that. Kreider, Pouliot, maybe Boyle on the 4th line. Zucc is willing to crash the net but I wouldn't exactly call him a net presence. Nash is more of a perimeter player and doesn't go to the net with any sort of consistency.

What do you think it would take to get a player like Ryan Callahan from the Lightning?

Just like every game

Win Or Else

Win or else risk this being the night we fall out of the op 3 never to return again this season

Its that close, everything is a must win and hopefully they play that way.

I wonder if AV will "rob Peter to pay Paul" as they say. Switch up the third line to help benefit and get going some other lines...

Pouliot - Stepan - Nash
Kreider - Brassard - MSL
Hagelin - Richards - Zuccarello
Carcillo - Moore - Boyle

It's such a mish/mosh of lines, but it could work to get some players going again. Fresh blood everywhere. Also keeps people in the correct position.

I'd be fine with just swapping CK and CH though.

I'm not sure what is the biggest joke, that we haven't all but locked up a playoff spot or that Toronto and Montréal has.

How hard is it to just swap Hags and Kreider? There has to be something we don't know that those wingers won't work on the oposite lines because he flat out refuses to try it.

Changing the 3rd line is just silly. Swap the two LWs and play hockey

Considering that Nash and Hagelin was the best 5v5 duo in the league last year, it is mystifying that AV hasn't given them much more than a handful shifts together this season.

Why are we thinking he's not trying just that?

Not sure. See a lot of talk about Pouliot with MSL in this thread. Thought there might have been something that they were playing together.

I guess nothing official has been said.

Pretty much all that's been said has led me to believe it will be just a Hagelin/Kreider swap.
