awesome. thanks, everybody! I'm asking for this stuff because it is time (overdue, probably) to update speed ratings in this project: http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/sh....php?t=1621045

some of you may remember me asking for this and other ratings in 2011. well, the speed ratings for players that are still active have almost entirely remained the same and I've rated newcomers based on articles and bios and the likes. I made a few adjustments here and there, but I imagine that it needs an overhaul in this important criteria. I very much appreciate the help. keep it coming, if you don't mind.

We actually have a pretty gd fast team. Even guys further down on the list like Couture, Wingels, and Desi all have decent speed.
Pretty good list, but I'd put Nieto 2nd. The kids fast!

Purely from a speed and not overall skating ability perspective:

Fowler
Cogliano
Lindholm
Sbisa

Palmieri
Perreault

Lovejoy
Jackman
Selanne
Koivu

Beleskey
Winnik
Getzlaf
Silfverberg
Bonino
Perry

Beauchemin

Allen
Fistric

Maroon

It's really tough to judge as players rarely get to show off how fast they are in full stride so I separated them into tiers. Even then I'm probably wrong on a couple.

I'd have Vlasic higher and Brown/Torres a little lower. Demers way higher. Other than that, it's similar to my list.

EDIT: Burish is too high.

I agree about the Bruins. they traded away their two fastest players at once. Paille ain't all that fast, but I think he's the fastest among them. did you have more to contribute?

There is no way in hell Toews is faster in a straight line or agility-wise than Patty Kane... or am I missing something here? Just because he might slow the game down often doesn't mean he doesn't have wheels..

I think MSL might be just as fast as Zucc.

The difference between the top six is somewhat negligible, it's almost a disservice to that group to rank them.

I hate Burish as much as anyone but the dude is fast, as are Brown and Torres. Not the "best" skaters but from a speed standpoint they're right up there near the top. I probably should have put Demers a little higher now that I think about it though.

agility is another thing (and is much harder to judge). let's stick to top speed and acceleration combined into one rating/ranking. thanks for responding.

Yeah, I agree with you. Speed is almost irrelevant with his style of play.

My point was just that he isn't as fast as Ovechkin/Kuznetsov/Green (as the original poster had said)

Yep, I'd say Irwin is faster than Stuart though, I like how you put Brown top-5, I agree.
