Claude Giroux's One Good Season on 3rd Consecutive Year

This is not a gloating thread or a jinx thread. Trolling is childish and jinxes aren't real.

But is anyone genuinely surprised that he's currently 4th in scoring? He probably won't crack top 3 but it's been quite a pace since he was washed up a few months ago!

I thought this guy was on the way to a brutal season along with the rest of the Flyers.

They proved me wrong.

An incredible second half for him, and I love it. Huge fan of Giroux

Star players slump sometimes?

This is incredible information!

HFBoards bashing of this guy when he was slumping was hilarious. He's a great player who was on a cold streak. I love how when Kopitar goes like 20 games without a goal people are like whatever, but Giroux has one bad stretch and he's a terrible captain and overrated one dimensional player.

The overrating of defense coming from forwards keeps turning the world.

It was kinda funny everyone was bashing Giroux. I found it highly entertaining.

When a guy with those skills shows the kind of competitiveness he has I always believe in them. I didn't know he'd get 4th in scoring just that he's not a guy you have to worry about. The only question would be injuries, but now that Simmonds has stopped kneeing him in the head things are coming together nicely.

Theres Only 3 players better than him offensively in the league and he's better than them all Defensively.

Amazing some people put players like Tavares, Kopitar, Kane, Zetterberg and Kessel ahead of him. He's just in a different category

Flyers fans troll Pens fans when Malkin or Crosby is struggling, so it goes both ways. It's still childish though.

Yeah, Hfboards is always about that what have you done lately mentality. Ovechkin and Giroux not in the top 5 in scoring, all of a sudden they're scrubs. Giroux in the top 4 now, all of a sudden Getslaf and Kane are scrubs.

Giroux has been good this season aside from the beginning of the season. Since he started racking up points, he's been better than Crosby imo. Crosby has been floating and playing like he doesn't care. Obvious by his "What did I do to deserve this" face. Giroux has been good in all 3 zones

Kopitar is close to Giroux. Tavares (not yet), Kane+Kessel (not as good overall), Zetterberg (on the decline/can't stay healthy).

To be fair we get along pretty well considering the rivalry. A few guys had a good discussion on the Pens boards yesterday.

It's great to see him playing the way he has been. He's obviously not as good as Crosby, but there's a lot to his game that is similar to Crosby from the faceoffs to the smart plays along the board. He also brings some physicality to his game (at least as much as can be expected by a guy that weighs less than 180).

I think he's got a shot at 2nd in the league in scoring by the end if he keeps it up. 11 points in his last 6 games.

What's the sample size on his "one good season" at this point?

*336 points in his last 318 games including playoffs.

I still concede that Crosby and Malkin are probably the two best forwards in hockey. Maybe I would put Stamkos ahead of Malkin, but it's so close.

And when he is on a cold streak, he doesn't slack of defensively. Maybe that's why.

It just makes me happy I held onto him in my fantasy league during the early weeks of the season when he was bad.

I wish I could find the post, but it's probably buried really far back... anyways, I had a really good laugh at someone claiming there was absolutely zero chance he would rebound and get anywhere near a PPG pace this season...
