Not only that, but the shorts function as your jock as well. Jock shorts, with the Velcro tabs to hold up your socks is easily one of the best hockey innovations in recent memory. Ease and comfort all in one, as opposed to the alternative setup.
I'll give them a whirl, but there must be some old school types who still prefer the garter belt.
It's got to be the only time a man can put a garter belt on without being a weirdo.
Been playing for 45 years. Used to use garters when that's all there was. Buttons always fell off so I used pennies. Had pennies all over the bottom of my bag. They got in my gloves and skates and were a pain in the ***. When I was about 15 (1979ish) I had my mom sew my socks to a pair of shorts....Problem solved. Unfortunately I wasn't bright enough to have the cup built in.
I would never use a garter again and I hate new equipment.
Garters have gone the way of the buggy whip and the dinosaur, velcro is the way to go. Fewer things to deal with (integrated jock shorts with velcro tabs are plentiful) and nobody has to talk about their garters anymore.
Have relented. No complaints and saves money on a new belt, but the Velcro must deteriorate over time on the shorts and socks. Someone must have had their sock fall down.
Of course they don't last forever. But they'll last you a pretty long time. My last shorts ripped after 4 years or so. Velcro was still good to go by that point. But they're also 30 bucks. Something that lasts you 4 years for 30 bucks is a good deal.
