Obviously they aren't the same player. I didn't realize exaggeration was a complete foreign language

Also the point I made had nothing to do with points.

I put no stock in what Kyproes and an SN panel has to say. Of course they're gonna say a Leaf player is better. Comparing Kessel to one of the top 5 players in the league is laughable and biased.

As is comparing PK Subban to Bobby Orr...

I would take Ovie in a heartbeat but in a round about way I understand the rationale for taking Kessel. I think Kypreos thesis is that Kessel is more likely to win a cup as an individual player because he accepts that he's not a captain and knows his role whereas Ovie can be a distraction and feels his bigger than the team. Kessel's been benched and put at center and never been a distraction. Ovechkin? We still remember his choice words for Boudreau for sitting him in the goalie out situation.

Can you win a cup with Phil Kessel? I don't see why not assuming you surround him with a contending supporting cast.
Can you win a cup with Ovechkin? I guess I could see it but for a leader of a team he has a lot of shortcomings and isn't exactly the type to rally a team when the chips are down. I don't think Pittsburgh would have won the cup in 2009 if they had Ovie instead of Crosby (not that they would have with Phil either but again he's not a team leader and doesn't pretend to be)

Fine, they're both right handed and can snipe. They're far from the same player though. I'm not going to get in a pointless argument over semantics.

Ovechkin is a way more physical player, while Kessel isn't. Kessel is much more of a playmaker than Ovechkin. As a result, they have different styles.

Easiest way too do this is...If you were starting a team today and you had the choice of OVI or Phil who would you take in the draft? I must assume that 85% (or more) would chose OVI. I'm not hating on Phil by any stretch btw, I have no horse in this race.

OV all day. Kessel having a career year, now he's better than the best goal scorer in the league? C'mon...
Not surprising that the Sportsnet panel would say this. They're paid to tell Leaf fans what they want to hear. Sad thing is, they actually believe it.

Lol. They're both crap defensively, and Ovi is a better scorer. Why wouldn't you take Ovi?

I'm not trying to offend you in any shape or form, if you need any insight or such, there has been many Kessel vs Ovi threads. You can simply just search and find it on the search option. It's just beating a dead horse with these repetitive topics my friend. Take care.

I love Kessel, but Ovechkin is a special scorer. I don't think it's any slight against Kessel to say that he isn't on Ovi's level. Ovechkin may be having a tough time and Kessel is a great player having a Hell of a season.

I would still take Ovechkin on my team.

Any level-headed Toronto Maple Leaf fan would take the 3x Hart Winner and best goal scorer of our generation over a great but not generational player in Phil Kessel.

It really is no slight to Kessel, Alexander Ovechkin has just proven to be on a different offensive dimension. And when comparing fairly one-dimensional players, the player who is far superior in offensive ability will win everytime. (and this is even disregarding Ovechkin's ruthless physicality)

The difference between them an this is a panel of hockey "experts" said they take Kessel. If that isnt worth a discussion then I dont know what is.

I don't agree. I think it's close but I'd still take OV. His +/- has been rehashed over and over on this board, I wonder even go there.

As per leadership, I don't know, I'm not in the locker room. I'll only say that Kessel has an unmistakable odor of doosh from a country mile away. There is no way the average NHL dude finds him easier to work with than OV.

"experts" say a lot of stupid things buddy.

If you left it to these experts, Mike Millbury would have put Drew Doughty through waivers. They just say things to get a rise out of people and to get a reaction. Media 101. These are the same people who say Kopitar is from Slovakia lol.

Good for them. Especially after Kessel's extension, I would take AO easily. Makes more but is worth more. The Capitals around him largely suck which is too bad.
