Matt Stajan returns to the Flames after death of son.

Stronger man than most.

Good luck, Matty.

I really thought he'd be taking the rest of the season off to be at home with his family, but this may be part of healing for him. good wishes. a hell of a thing to be sure....

A huge part of grieving is also getting back to your normal routine, sad to hear for Stajan, I've seen some friends go through that and it's a difficult process. Good to see him back on the ice and getting back to normal, the healing process from this will never go away though.

Can't even imagine losing a child. Best of luck to him moving forward.

I think there's some teams you have to respect to a great level.

The calgary organization is one to root for right now.

I think maybe hockey is the best thing for him right now. I hope it helps him even just a little bit.

And hope he and his wife stay strong and someday are blessed with a healthy child. According to his wiki, the deceased child was his first. I hope if and when the Stajans are ready they do get to have their child.

Go kick some ass Matt!

the last thing I'd want to do is talk to reporters about it... unless he called them in, leave the man alone.

yea, you wouldn't know they were near the bottom of the league by watching them play. They play tough every night.

I can't even imagine. My wife and I recently lost our 2nd kid fairly early in the pregnancy and god was that rough. I can't even imagine if it had been post birth, no one should have to experience that. I know it was even harder on my wife than myself, and she's a pretty tough lady. I hope they can rebound, this kind of thing can be really hard on a relationship. Either you use each other for support, or you can't be around the other person without thinking about your loss, seems to be one or the other.

Definitely thought he'd miss the rest of the season. Hopefully getting back to the game is the best way for him to move forward.

I kinda wonder why he's going on the road playing hockey and leaving his wife at home, though. Really thought he'd take the rest of the season off and be with her.

She could told him it is time to go back. We don't know the inner workings of their family. I just wish them the best during this tragic situation, and hope they find the strength to get through it.

Bob Hartley has done some incredible things with this group. The Flames may not have the skill, but heart and effort can go a long way in some cases.

I hope Stajan gets a standing O tomorrow night when we play Buffalo. He deserves it.

Unbelievable. Matt is a stronger man then I. If something happened to any of my kids....I don't even want to think about that. All of us fans, players and management are part of one big hockey family and I hope he knows how much we all wish him the best.
