KHL's version of concussion

Quote:
The KHLs Barys Astana won their first ever playoff series last week after sweeping Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg in the opening round. They are currently waiting for their next opponent and probably would like a few more extra days of rest given an injury to one of their players.

Talgat Zhailauov is a 28-year old forward who posted 10 goals and 31 points in 52 games this season. He helped set up the winning goal in Barys' Game 4 2-1 conquest over Avtomobilist.

Upon the team's arrival back home, some fans greeted them at the airport and decided to do celebrate by tossing Zhailauov in the air. That wasn't a great idea.

According to reports, Zhailauov was taken to a hospital and suffered a concussion. No word on how much time he might miss.

Fortunately for Barys, they don't start their second round series until later this week, so hopefully Zhailauov is cleared to re-join his team.

Note to Barys fans should they advance to the conference final on the road: some simple cheering and handshakes will be just fine next time.

Wrong board, but it has to be one of the most awkward injuries in the history of hockey if not sports.

Poorly coordinated throwing, just terrible.

Seriously though, that just sucks for him.

Vodka does not improve hand-eye coordination

Lucky he didn't break his neck. Basically fell right on his head, and no helmet either.

I think there was a football/soccer player who dislocated his shoulder brushing his teeth.

You make it sound, that if they would of injured any other player except Zhailauov, it would of been somehow better.

I still think being concussed by own fans celebrating beats it.

I remember that Robby Keane ripped several ligaments while trying to grab the zapper with his foot.

Penner and his pancakes beats them all.

Good thing it doesn't look like they will need him all that much against SU/Torpedo anyway.

Peter Nielsen dislocated his shoulder doing the same thing.

Kevin Keegan tops them all: he couldn't play a few games because his big toe got stuck in the drain of his bathtub.

... oh wow, not good. Even the best of intentions can go so badly, run awry sometimes. Start getting rambunctious physically, accidents can & do happen, tragedies often occurring. Hope this guys alright. Brutal.
