@erlendssonTBO: As speculated yesterday #tblightning have signed college FA Cody Kunyk out of Alaska-Fairbanks
Thoughts? He was at our development camp last year.

Size and style aside, assets are assets. Yzerman works his magic again.

The guy isn't the caliber of our last two NCAA signings as far as I know, but it doesn't hurt to have another piece for Syracuse. I'm not really expecting him to be any more than that but we'll see.

Regarding Kunyk's 1-yr deal, as per BriseBois: The contract is for the remainder of this season, so Kunyk will be restricted at its end.
Quote:
BriseBois said because Kunyk turning 24, he had to be signed 1-yr. Deal could have started in July, but Kunyk camp wanted it to start now.

Kunyk will be assigned to the Lightning, BriseBois said.

I know nothing about him, so I'll just repeat:

They definitely see something if they're going to put him on the big roster. Maybe a warm body in case we clinch fairly early and want to give some guys some rest.

Maybe, but I think they just want to take a look at him before sending him to Syracuse.

Not sure how this is going to work with Panik and Kucherov barely finding ice time.

I like it. Free asset. And he isn't really undersized, he's 5'11. That's pretty average height for skill players. Between 5'11 and 6'1.

Interesting that he's assigned to the Lightning. How many people are on our main roster right now? Does someone have to go down?

At this point the Lightning should sign every UDFA undersized forward we can.

He's listed As 206 lbs as welI so I don't think size is going to be an issue.

Yeah, but Drouin is listed at 192. I guess we'll have to see him. If he's a Callahan-5'11, great. Most of us are only going by his scouting report though and seeing another slick forward. Which isn't bad to have, don't get me wrong.

Both Sustr and Brown were originally assigned to the Lightning before they got sent down. Don't know if he'll get in any games like the other two did before going down because we're scratching better player's already.

They must be expected to clear house in Syracuse with all these signings and trades lately, Labrie/Angeledis/Paradis/Walker/Rankin and DiSalvatore might be looking for a new club. Syracuse is going be super young but extremely talented.

There are a number of underachievers on the Crunch this year. Walker is due to just being injury prone this season. Not sure about Mormina; started like a house on fire but got worse as the season progressed. I would re-sign Angeledis for his leadership and fire, he is a good example for the younger players to learn from. Labrie and Neilson are an interesting pair. Definately fan favorites and very much team players. If the Crunch is going smaller, would be a good idea to keep them both. Will be a tough call on them. Paradis is another team player, but has done little in his two years in Syracuse. DiSalvatore and Rankin have been ok, but are expendable.

Sure he's been good but he's old as ****. Also a LW which we're stacked at in the A.

Is Kunyk going to play C or LW?

To those that say im a stat watcher I do a lot more than that I get video on players etc.

I have liked this kid started watching him after camp etc.

For us would say he plays lw but also think he played on RW at times this year if remember reading right at one point.

He goes to net he is dangerous like 6 shorties or something scorer of year wchl mvp of wchl I think.

Has a good slap shot his speed is not like the guys we have or some of them but he is not afraid to go to net mix it up and plays well as playmaker to others also complete game.

PS I love anything from alaska lol. Why grew interested haha. And yes know he is from alberta lol.

I think this is insurance for us. He reminds me a lot of killer.

I still think we do a deal soon for defense at least by trade deadling next year and the pieces going out I would bet will be killer/panik/connolly

I question killorn stevie gets rid of people conacher when he seems to think they have hit their limit etc. Maybe Killorn might be viewed as expandable with what we have coming and what others are showing?

He would have the most value of a guy who might have topped off.

Johnson and palat after this season you would have to believe can still get better etc.

Not saying Killorn is out just saying this guy is very interesting cause brings the same qualities killer does maybe a better overall shot. Maybe a little dirtier at the net. Maybe also a little slower.

I think in 2016-2017 we will know our core and might be a lot different than what we see now. We might be pissed about certain moves? I remember detroit the moves. Yet the system worked hope we keep a lot of these young guys I like them.

I think we will be losing some though that will make all of us sad at times.

In keeping callahan? Signing someone like Kesler? Can we really argue if we do a cup run next year? A true cup run? Detroit did things like that guys or kids I loved but they got the cups. Kids I was so mad at when happened thought would go insane a couple kids whom had honorable mention hall of fame type of careers. None did get the hall of fame though.

So yeah detroit was in good hands. Just like we are in good hands.

I do see some butt hurt fans though by 2017. Yet if it works? Most of us laugh as we get to see a parade and touch the cup
