Basically, we're paying him NHL game checks to retain his RFA rights next year. There apparently was a bidding war for him and we offered NHL game checks to get him signed. Fine by me but I doubt he sees a game until we're comfortably in the Playoffs. If we hit 94-96 points and have a couple games left, he could see the ice.

Interesting that he gets a "real" number right off the bat.

Much like Brown in the past, you put him on the roster usually immediately, that is the "signing bonus" so to speak.

Does anyone think we'll give him the 2 game sneak peek like we did with Sustr at the end of last year? More/less?

My only issue with Michelle Gingras is that I hear nails on the chalkboard every time she says her last name...like if Claude Giroux pronounced his last name "Gih-roo-uks". Otherwise, she's cool with me!

I really hope so. Even if it's a bottom-6, <10 minutes per game role.

So then get her to change her last name

Did everyone forget the previous girl, what was her name again?

Eeeg. I had to avoid smashing things when Brittany spoke. Neither one of those girls is my type.

Kunyk, 23, who last summer attended the Lightning's development camp, signed a one-year deal that pays a pro-rated portion of $925,000. There is no guarantee he plays and he can be a restricted free agent on July 1.
Quote:
Kunyk, the youngest of three, learned the game in Sherwood Park, Alberta, outside Edmonton. He grew up an Oilers fan idolizing Ales Hemsky and still bemoans the team's sad recent fortunes.
Quote:
"His skating is probably his best attribute," Alaska-Fairbanks assistant coach Corbin Schmidt said. "It looks effortless. He probably skates better than he walks. He can shoot it from anywhere and he's got really good vision. And the thing about Cody is he can make those tough plays while playing at full speed."

Really hope he gets a couple of games to play before the end of the season. If he plays with the big boys and learns how he is not ready to play in the NHL.
