Knight grew up by Calgary in British Columbia Hayes is from Massachusetts. Of course if he signs with Calgary he gets to keep playing on his college line.

Yes, but the reason why Knight didn't want to sign was that he wanted a better shot at making the NHL, which ironically failed even with Calgary.

Now while our RW depth can't be compared to the C depth, him making the team next season here is highly unlikely.

While that's true, he might require an NHL spot from any team signing him. IMO kind of like when Bjugstad bypassed the AHL last season.

Paraphrasing @CHN_AdamWodon here but "friction" stemming from the Hawks trading Jimmy Hayes. It's Adam's story though @Sebmono @coreypronman

Get your little brother here Jimmy.

Pirri might have some input too. If twitter is any indication, they seem to be friends.

How does that 2nd round compensation pick work? Will he have to give up our 2nd for 2015 or will they add an extra pick in that round?

Hayes was picked #24, so they'll get the equivalent 2nd round pick, which is #54.

The pick is just added there, it's not previously owned by anyone.

Thanks for that, I wasn't sure how it worked either. I assumed the team he signed with would not lose their 2nd pick, that would not make any sense.

Rumors say that Panthers (amongst some other NHL teams) is interested in Michael Keränen - a late bloomer who was selected as the best player in the regular season in the Finnish Elite League. He is continuing his great season with Team Finland at the moment and scored his third goal in three games in the national team against Team Slovakia just a couple minutes ago.

There was some talk about this earlier, although I don't see where he'd fit (next season). AHL move I guess.

Keränen would most probably end up into the AHL, but has potential becoming an NHLer in a couple of years. He is a very entertaining player with Datsyuk like moves.

Would be great pickup also considering we're pretty dry on RW prospects. Plus Finns seem to be a safe bet lately

Keränen just signed with FEL team IFK one year deal. He said also that he is trying to be ready 2015/2016 for NHL.

Actually he has been said that he is not (probably) NHL ready yet. However, the goal is still in NHL and I am quite sure that he will sign an NHL contract and I would not be so sure that he will play in FEL next year. The contract with HIFK (>300 k€) is a insurance in case he will not get an NHL contract.

KHL is not an option.

Florida GM Dale Tallon told PTS he is actively shopping the No. 1 pick in this summer's NHL draft. Not just accepting offers - shopping it.

He is interesting player, he has three games with Team Finland and three goals, as of couple of days ago.
Too bad Ilves couldn't sign him.

Keränen´s goal tonight in Team Finland vs Team Czech Republic

I really hope he is signed to NHL this summer, because he did not resign with Ilves. It would hurt to see your own apprentice wearing a jersey of an opponent.
