Well the Yotes GM has done some great things and some stupid things, but exposing Simpson and keeping Hulse?? Simpson already has been quoted as saying hes hurt, and so would I be.. This guy is the heart of the Yotes in my eyes and now the Yotes brass kicked sand in his eyes..

Would you want your team to go after Simpson??

No Todd for the Sens, we already have one in white. However we don't have a dancing chicken, and could use one since we lost the dancin' guy a few years back to fame and fortune in the stands of the states.

I'd be surprised if the Oilers didn't pick him up; if not them, then most definetely another team.

There are many teams that could use a d-man like Simpson. His salary isn't too bad eiteher which pretty much means he will be picked up.

Would the Leafs and Oilers not be the most likely candidates?

Maybe the Blackhawks or Caps too. The guy will almost definitely go, I kind of wish the Canucks hadn't signed Slegr and waited on the draft, Simpson would be an ideal acquisition for our #6/7 position who would add tons of character and grit.

The Kings could use his grit and bite on their blueline. However, no team can claim a player within the same division in the first round. I do not think he will be available after that.

The Oilers could have interest in Simpson. They could use some more experience and grit back there. Hasn't Simpson suffered from concussions that past couple years or is that not an issue anymore?

The Pens should pick him up. Then we'd have 3 of Phoenix's d-men from last year: Focht - Berehowsky - SImpson

But I'm not so sure that would be a good thing

I'd like to see the Canucks unprotect Slegr and go after Simpson. Simpson is just the kind of defender we need--someone who's mean as hell, clears the crease, and can drop the gloves.

Thats what I thought.. What was Mike thing when he made his list.. The only thing against Todd is that hes a FA at season end..

I haven't followed Simpson lately, but I always had a grudging respect for the guy during his Calgary days. If he's still the guy I remember, I'd love to see him on the Oil.

With all these teams needing defense, I can't imagine why the Coyotes didn't swing a deal. Even a mid-round draft pick would have been better than a waiver-transfer payment, wouldn't it?

Hes a FA at seasons end
So if hes picked on waivers, and doesnt sign, the yotes can sign him

The only factor relevant to dealing Todd Simpson before the waiver draft would be that the Coyotes wouldn't be allowed to trade for him during this season. They'd still be able to sign him afterward.

If Detroit had some room or moved Wooley or Dandeneault, I'd love to see them pick up Simpson. I'd love to see him on a pairing with Schneider.

if Simpson isn't picked up i'd be honestly surprised. he has a very reasonable salary and is a good depth defensemen.

in the first round i could see Pittsburgh, Nashville, Atlanta, Chicago and possibly Montreal picking him up.

Florida should try and bring Todd back, I don't see the Canes picking him up since they added Boughner and I don't see the Pens adding more salary so next in line are CBJ and Fla.

B/c management thinks the average fan in Phoenix won't know the difference and they'll save 400k. They might be right, but it's still inane...

Post-script: Before I'm jumped on for belittling a team's fans -- I, live in Phoenix, and the average fan doesn't know much about hockey. Maybe it's because they get eight seconds a night on the local news. And, yes, most of the Phoenix posters here are pretty creditable -- I'm addressing the statement at the public at large...
