Roy emerges as a winner again in Montreal- A Note on Subban.

Great article.
http://www.montrealgazette.com/sport...052/story.html

Last paragraph was obviously destined to Habs brass : Don't make twice the same mistake!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
''You have fiery players, smart players and talented players. Once in a blue decade, you get a player who is all three, and Roy was that. Now it appears he brings the same combination of talents behind the bench.

As for the Canadiens, the team he once defined, there is a lesson to be learned here. Generational, iconic players are few and far between. When you are lucky enough to have a Chelios or a Roy, you don’t deal them away.

The Canadiens have two players who in many ways mirror Chelios and Roy in P.K. Subban and Carey Price. Price has always been protected and lionized within the organization. Subban, not so much. Therrien is still playing head games with his Norris Trophy winner — and while Subban has carefully avoided anything verging on a public break with his coach, he has to be simmering inside, especially after incidents like the ridiculous long-shift episode Sunday night in Buffalo.

Experience should have taught the Canadiens the price you pay when you sacrifice your best and brightest on the altar of conformity. If history repeats itself with P.K. Subban, if it builds to the point where Subban quietly tells his agent he wants out of here, Therrien and Bergevin will have only themselves to blame.''

What was "the ridiculously long-shift episode in Buffalo"? I must've missed something. Can someone explain?

he was on the ice for like 3 minutes and 20 seconds. 2 minutes of that time was spent on the PP.

i don't reckon him being forced to stay out on the ice by Therrien, though. Subban just couldn't make a change because the benches were a bit further in the 2nd period.

That means nothing when the coach and organization treat you like crap.

Was Roy a poor baby when he eventually snapped and asked for trade? No one is saying to baby him either.

Seriously though. That was a ridiculously mis-leading part of the article. I watched that game, he played the whole PP then got stuck out there in the defensive zone. And like you said, the benches were on the far end of the defensive zone that period.

Nothing to write home about, just an anomaly. My God normally people write and complain about Therrien mistreating PK because of less ice time, not more

If they run him out of town I'll be done with the team for a while, much like I was from about 96-2002.

We all have better things to do then have to suffer through the same crap again. The whole point of making mistakes is to learn from them, and I refuse to condone one of this magnitude again.

They're not mistreating him, and he's not going anywhere.

This kind of fabricated and perpetuated crap is only good for one thing. The media. They need stories and drama it seems.

Wrong. He didn't get along with the coach wouldn't take his **** because he knew Tremblay was an idiot. He was then publicly embarrassed and blew his top. Very understandably when you consider the circumstances. I don't get it when people blame Roy when Corey, Houle and Tremblay were responsible for what went down.

I feel the same way man. They're dicking around with his contract when far less deserving players have gotten extensions. They make the same mistake again and I'm done with this team forever.

If the Habs manage to mess it up with PK and he leaves to another team, wherever he lands will have a new fan in me. I would stop following the CH for a good while.

I have a feeling though that despite Therrien's awfulness, Subban enjoys playing here.

If you leave because of that then you are not a real fan. Its supposed to be about the crest on the front of the jersey not the back, I could care less who leaves the team, I cheer for the Habs..period, the players come and go, who cares.

People can be fans for many reasons. Supporting piss poor management is not one of them.
