How can anyone say NYI are 'definitely' not going to make the playoffs? One of only six teams to make the playoffs each of the last three years, offset every major loss except Kenny Jonsson with a major gain this offseason.
They very well might miss the playoffs if a lot of things go wrong and Satan and Yashin don't click, but to say they are 'definitely' going to miss is a joke.
As far as I'm concerned, the only teams definitely not making the playoffs in the entire NHL are Carolina, Washington, Buffalo and Chicago. All the rest have at least a tiny bit of hope.
Carolina (these guys are terrible. Stillman and Whitney are not the answer for this team)
Washington (they won't be down for long, but they'll suck this year)
Buffalo (Numminen won't offset the loss of Satan and Zhitnik)
Rangers (btm 3 team in the league)
Minnesota (NW is just too stacked... 32 games against some very tough competition)
St. Louis (just an ugly, ugly team. Btm 3 team with CAR & NYR, the difference is that STL is thin on prospects)
New York Rangers (I'm sorry for the New Yorkers) Washington Capitals (you guys did a GREAT job on the free market..) Columbus Blue Jackets (sorry guys.. it's just not enough..)
Buffalo Sabres (why not merge with the Capitals ?) Florida Panthers (well.... I don't know... it's just... eh.. I just don't know..) Chicago Blackhawks (maybe... just maybe...) Pittsburgh Pinguins (one Crosby doesn't make spring)
