NJ - LA Proposal

Looks like Devils may be cutting it close in the cap.

To NJ: Cammalleri and 2nd in 2006

To LA:Scott Gomez

NJ saves about 1.5 in salary.

As a Kings fan, provided that Gomez's hip was ok, I'd do Cammy and a 1st for Gomez.

Gomez
Demitra
Conroy
Belanger down the middle would be sick.

I would not do a 1st for Gomez that's the old Kings and with UFA age going down we could loose players way to fast 2nd and Cammy is the most I would offer.

Roenick to wing? In that scenario, Demitra on Gomez's wing would probably work pretty well.

Devils are an older club, so I'd be surprised to see them trade Gomez right now. We're in some cap trouble, but I think Friesen/Kozlov are more likely to go than Gomez.

We're weak at centre already, we need to deal centers not wingers.

Yeah, but he's not established at all. Gomez is a Calder Mem. winner and a two time cup champ.

No, Gomez is the type of young talent that would fit in nicely on our club.

A 25 year old that puts up 70 points? But him on a line with Frolov and Roenick, sheesh....

Plus didn't Cammy play with Parise?

There are a ton of better ways for the Devs to cut salary than to deal their best center, who is only 25, for a guy who has yet to prove himself at the NHL level and a pick.

No doubt Gomez is a great player, but he is almost 27 years old an can be a UFA in a couple of seasons. Cammy at 23 tore up the AHL last year almost beat Speeza for the scoring title. + a 2nd * I think it's an even deal. Cammalleri will score 30+ goals within 2 years.

[QUOTE=Brodeur]

Devils are an older club, QUOTE]
? Huh. This is a list of Devils over 30 based on Birth year, not day...
Elias, Gionta, Gomez, Parise, Friesen, Kozlov, Brylin 31, Pandolfo 32, Madden, Rasmussen, Marshall 32, Suglobov, White, Rafalski 32, Martin, Hale, McGillis 33, Matvichuk 32, Malakhov 37...Brodeur 33, Clemmenson

Not to many people over thirty and if they are they are all early thirties except Malakhov. How is that old. It isn't like they are all in their late 30's like some teams....This seems average to me...

As for the trade. I would never do it. Gomez is a young star who can be top 10 in the game as long as he has a scoring winger. He proved it last year. If he doen't not have someone who can finish for him then he is virtually useless.....

Gomez is not even 26. And while its great Cammy tore up the AHL at age 23, Gomez scored 70 points and won the Calder in the NHL at 21.

No comparison. And I think Cammy will end up being a slcik scoring line player.

There is less than 3 years between them and Gomez has already led the league in assissts.

Kings don't need Gomez. They need defense. Especially if Miller and Norstrom leave at season's end.

How about:

To LA: Colin White
To NJ: Mike Cammalleri + pick

White for Cammalleri straight up is fair, if anything, we'd owe you a pick.

I would not do that one straight up, that's the kind of deal that would haunt the Kings for years. George Maguire type deal !

That is better. But take away the pick and it is fair. In all honesty I am a big fan of White but Cammalleri I would do for WHite...

It may be fair in value, but trusting two rookies (Parise and Camms... who's basically a rook) to carry the scoring load until Elias is back is ill advised at best.
