That's a pretty penny. This market is valuing itself pretty high. Looks like it's one good d-man and maybe a #7 and that's it for Philly.

In a way I was open to the fact that anyone can and probably will go anywhere. Afterall teams like Colombus, Florida and Nashville are now in the hot seats. They have so much cap room available and their GM's said they will use it all and spend. So for the first time the roles are reversed in regards to who is the spending teams. This cap is a nice equaliser and well it's anyones guess who will be competing next year.

Colombus are such a young flying team and have added some experience, they are gonna be fun to watch. With Nash, Zherdev, Brule running a line up forward that is gonna be lethal with Foote and the young Klesla on the D and I'm sure more to come.

3 yrs, $13.5 million for Foote > 4 years, $14 million for Hatcher? I think so.

Yashin and Satan will be a good pair. I know Cotseys corner and Clark are not to high on Yashin but playing with Satan will benefit, he will rock 100 points. He didn't have a good winger ever since he was traded from Ottawa. Zhitnik is mobile and tough D. Should be interesting.

New Jersey signs former Flyers Vladimir Malakhov and Dan McGillis

Along with resigning Rafalski. Them signing Malakhov is just more good news for us.

McGillis = $8.4m over 2 years
Malakhov = $7.2m over 2 years.

LMAO, the Devils have lost it if those numbers are true!

Those can't be true...who would give McGillis a raise in the current economic framework, since i believe he only earned $3 million or so previously. And $3 million plus for Malakhov? That seems high to me as well. I can't believe Lou would do that.

Mojo 640 in Toronto is reporting that the Toronto Maple Leafs have made a substancial offer to Detroit forward Henrik Zetterberg.

Zetterberg is a restricted free agent so detroit will now have the opportunity to match toronto's offer, however in doing so it is said that Detroit will then be over the salary cap! "

Spector's Note: My thanks to everyone else who sent this in, but "Santo" was first and he gets the honours. Anyway, if this story is true it would be a crafty move by the Maple Leafs, who'd likely lose two or three draft picks in compensation, although that likely wouldn't both Leafs management. If Ferguson can pull this off it'll be quite a coup. Hopefully we'll get more verification on this soon...

What a classy move

No kidding. I'd suggest that Detroit do the same thing with Toronto but we all know they don't have anything of real value, aside from Mats Sundin.

Rafalski is the guy that got $8.4 million over two years. McGillis got $2.2 million over two years, which really isn't a bad price.
