I don't think so. The ship had sailed on Boudreau. His team had quit on him. You don't come back from that.
Yes and no. He absolutely lost the room, but much of the reason for Boudreau's stylistic changes in the first place was pressure from people above him.
On top of that, McPhee utterly failed at adding any meaningful pieces to the roster during Boudreau's entire coaching stint. A past-his-prime Fedorov is the closest thing to an impact player across three playoff runs, and McPhee pretty much loled at the idea of making his team better defensively.
Backstrom was atrocious this year. Of course, he should be better when healthy but do you want to take a chance on that? They're better off signing another veteran imo. Not Miller, but someone from the next tier of free agents.
