well there goes my theory that Miller signs with the Isles in the offseason.

Just thinking out loud for a second here......

I wonder if the Blues might perhaps go after Joe Thornton via trade? Gotta think that the Sharks at this point start a retool/rebuild around Pavelski/Couture/Hertl/etc.........

Once upon a time Ehrhoff was also traded to the Isles for a pick...but he didn't sign so they dealt him to us to sign.

He's not poor, he just knows that he is going to wait until July 1 to sign somewhere.

@reporterchris

Gary Bettman says a weaker Canadian dollar will put next year's salary cap at $69M or $70M. Had been projected at $71M.

So where did this victory song originate?

From Kirk Culik, that’s where.

Culik is a cross-training coach who is also a retired prison guard and Gold Glove boxing coach who works with the National Development Program. It’s a chant that the players learn during their training sessions, spat out like the shout-and-repeat songs heard during basic training.

“I'd say every group from the 1990s on knows it and waits for a chance to sing it,” said Scott Monaghan, USA Hockey Senior Director of Operations.

It’s only performed after a team wins a championship; needless to say, the USA Hockey’s younger players have burned their lungs singing it more than the national team has.

It made its debut (i.e. caught on video) after the U.S. junior team won worlds in 2010, and now it’s become tradition to release the latest rendition after they capture gold.

“I'm a little bummed that the last two words keep getting edited out though,” joked Monaghan.
And now you know the rest of the story....

I'm going to bet that he won't last as long as their first head coach did.

Hrmmmm, a coach known for his high tempo offensive system on a team built for defensive play.

Well, it's not as if their backend can't push the play, especially via passing it. I agree that it doesn't seem the best fit but it might work to their benefit to open things up a bit, relying on good play down low from the defensemen and Rinne to make up for things. Generate the offense that their forwards can't manufacture through possession.

Well, we can only hope the Flyers will become just like the islanders after they hired an former goalie to run things.

The difference is that Hextall has plenty of front office experience and Garth came straight from practice.

Blues extend head coach Ken Hitchcock for the 2014-15 season.

@StLouisBlues

BREAKING: Hitchcock has been extended through 2014-15; Shaw and Bennett will remain with coaching staff. http://*******/1kYpBU9
