I've heard here and there that he's playing well; can someone fill me in on what exactly he's been doing well, strengths/weaknesses, etc.? Especially some of you who get to camp. Much appreciated. Thanks.
I remember after he was drafted me and all my hockey buddys were like "Um, who is this guy? Did they just make up a name and draft him to see if anyone would catch on???"
I saw him at the black-white scrimmage in Rochester, and hes not really that bad....He could help Rochester if they signed him. I wouldnt mind watchin him go
I thought this thread was going to be about Buffalo signing Alexandre Daigle, heh. I'd heard yesterday that someone signed him, but I didn't catch who.
A year in the AHL can't hurt Kriukov. The fact that he's stayed with the team so far through camp isn't a bad indication of how he's doing.
I mean, he wouldn't have been a 1st rounder if he wasn't at least somewhat talented.
will he get more playing time in the ahl or in russia?
if he gets about the same either place, let's see him over here.
I would think if they sign him for the Amerks they'd want to play him enough to get an idea of where he is health-wise, talent-wise, development-wise, etc. and so he should get some decent playing time. There'd be a lot more interest in his development and therefore more reason to play him and keep a close eye on him.
If he's back in Russia there's no guarantee he gets big minutes in the RSL. He's just another player competing for ice time. As Artem seems to be comfortable on the ice, I would like to see him in Rochester.
That'd be great if Kruikov panned out and actually became the player we hoped for when we drafted him. This guy does have talent, let's hope it all works out.

with the guys buffalo passed on to pick him, darcy and his like will give artem every single possible chance to succeed
I haven't seen enough of either but here is hoping they both pan out.
Novotny was the guy I associated to Kriukov because Artem had that same small-legged, soft Euro, visor wearing look that Jiri has.
I think Artem has a more developed offensive game. I just wonder if either guy will adapt enough to the more physical North American game to be effective as neither guy has say Max's blazing speed.
But the Sabres will be patient with both guys. And that's a good thing because I could see it taking a while for these guys to blossom into real players.
