Where in my post did I not agree with that? I agreed with Habductor's intent, but not the argument (server load) he used.

back to Selanne... they used to call him the finnish flash, does he still have good wheels or has he lost a step or two? you just get the feeling that the fast teams are really gonna shine next season with all the new rules and such.

i would truly love to see Teemu on the first line with Koivu and Kovy. you just know they would produce nicely. that puts Zed on the second line with Ryder and Ribs. another great line. our 3rd should look like Bonk, Bulis and Perez with the 4th line having Begin, Higgins and Dags (or sunny). nothing to be ashamed of.

our defence is fine the way it is (IMO).

Markov, Souray, Komi, Rivet are all solid defenders and Dandenault, Bouillon are no slouches either. Having Hainsey and Streit as backups is terrific. nice depth.

the only problem i see is Selanne will probably ask for at least 2.5 - 3 mil a year. hes one of the last good UFA's out there and im sure his stock is rising by the day.

I know i went a bit off of the subject in the middle there but i just felt like talking about my beloved team...i love this edition of the Habs and really hope to see Selanne in it.

GUYS! Listen!

It doesn't work! Neither Selanne (never tried I think) or Kovalev (tried and failed) can play LW! Unless you're moving Saku to the LW to put Teemu or Alex at C (which doesn't sound right), Koivu, Selanne, and Kovalev can not form a trio. I would love to see the three of them playing together, but unless Teemu is a closet-left winger, there is no place for him on this team, since he'd be coming here to play with Saku, but that spot is already taken by Kovalev.

Don't panic, i'm sure we can find him a place on the team... a guy like Selanne... come on you don't let it go because you have already someone RW on your first line (which is not official). Kovalev could move on the second line (but i'm sure there's better solutions).

You don't move Kovy to accomodate Selanne....you do the opposite

It's not gonna happen. Perezhogin is guaranteed a top-6 spot barring a catastrophe and Zednik can play LW on the second line with Ribs and Ryder. I'd like to see a 3rd line of Hossa/Higgins-Bonk-Bulis but I don't know whether Julien will give Dags and Sundstrom priority over prospects.

Perez (For 30 games. If he doesn't perform, replace with Higgins or Hossa)-Koivu-Kovalev
Zednik-Ribs-Ryder
Hossa/Higgins (Training camp battle)-Bonk-Bulis (I don't know if he can play RW)

That 3rd line can play a bit of defensive hockey and all 3 of those lines are scoring threats in the new NHL. I don't see how spending any money on a guy who seems to be close to done does us any good.

Are you joking? Perez already has Zednik's spot, and if he doesn't Higgins or Hossa are going to take it?

Here's a thought:

- Zednik earned his first line spot. Barring a catastrophe, he's going to keep it.
- Perezhogin has proved nothing in the NHL. Giving him a top 6 position before training camp is like comparing Latendresse to Bergeron. i.e. - it's a looooong shot.

the time when zednik must be proven less useful than a prospect(such as zhogin or kost) on the 1st line of our team has come.

I'm pretty sure Zednik could look good with Bonk and Bulis...

Latest Sellanne update:

"Most recent Leafs rumour, Teemu Selanne for 2 years and $5million, John Ferguson Jr. would not confirm or deny that the Leafs are talking to Selanne. My guess is that Teemu signs with Montreal."

This is from MOJO radio. Here is the link.

Toronto has 3 million cap space left I really think that rumour is BS.

Maybe you missed the memo. Perez has a top-6 spot to himself barring a catastrophe. 1st or 2nd line, it doesn't matter - he'll get 16 minutes of ice-time a night.

Why keep posting the same proposals even after so many people have shut it down?

We're not going to send a troubled prospect, a player nobody wants and a 5th rounder and get 2 very quality players like White and Friesen in return.
