About Ron, i'm french myself and the moment he said what he said, I agreed with him cause it puts the ref who happens to be french in a bad position. Look at what happened after the disallowed goal, everybody was the ref's throat cause he was french, implicating that it may have been the reason. Now it may be or it may be not be i'm thinking don't make people think that's it's a possibility. Get away from the trouble as fast as possible and put non-french guys in the playoffs in Montreal. I would prefer it personaly.
Cause refs are human who feel and think and sometime they act out of spite. Case in point Kerry Fraser admited to Ron Fournier that it in the 06 playoffs between the Habs and Canes, he gave a bench penalty to then coach Michel Therrien to teach him a lesson cause he was rookie coach. But that penalty lead to a goal and was the turning point of that series wich eliminated the Habs. And Fraser has been haunted by that call to this day. But it shows you that refs some of the time don't always do good calls or calls from the rule book wich can interprated in a various of ways. Better take the possibility of trouble out of the way and don't place refs in important matchs who come from the local place.
As I said when I started the first of these threads, he will occasionally say things that are old fashioned or out dated, things people might not agree with but he will also say things no one can disagree with (like player safety issues). The Cooke stuff was definitely something I think most hockey people agreed with.
So did Cherry think Cooke got too many games? He seemed steamed about something.
No, not enough. Cooke also isn't losing any salary because they don't get paid in the playoffs. He said the Avs are probably going to lose the series now and lose out on millions (in revenue from future rounds).
