Loved his analysis of the Canucks situation. Spot on.
So basically he reads HF huh?

Especially since The Coach is not a racist.

He might be (and is) a lot of (not nice) things, but racist isn't one of them.

100% agree with you. But those accusing Cherry of being a racist are wrong.

The man might be a lot of things but racist isn't one of them.

I've seen him interact with kids, white, black, yellow, brown and green (Irish)

... unhuh. youve just inferred as much again. Final warning on this topic. Any further "inferences" or direct accusations suggesting such simply wont be tolerated.

You never actually wrote that he was a racist.

But look at the following posts:

Point remains apparently there has never been a single black, asian, native kid that has had been battling cancer in his life and liked hockey that Don Cherry could put on CBC saying we should all pull for him.

Its the same think with him picking and choosing exclusively little white kids with cancer or some other health issue.

If it quacks like a duck and walks like a duck...

You not so subtly accused him of being a racist in pretty much every post that you wrote recently in this thread.

I hate people with blinders, even if they are on my side of the fence.

It's a foible of mine...

Just heard that Jakob's Grandmother died unexpectedly last December.

Some people seem to have more than their share of heartache.

I thought he was going to say "good for you, Bouillon to have defended Desharnais" but all he could say was "Bouillon had a visor".

He really cannot find one good thing to say about that team. Typical Toronto homerism.

Did Grapes say the Canucks need to strip Hank Sedin of the captaincy? Didn't hear it but saw notions towards it on Twitter after.

Yup! I'm guessing he thinks the replacement should be Bieksa

Keep in mind Cherry wanted Landeskog to be stripped of his captaincy this year because Landeskog was, as Cherry said it, "an 18 year old Swede".

Look at that beautiful hit by Loosik... No time? Okay. They need to give captaincy to Lalongo... oh wait. Those dumdums in Vancouver traded him. Give captaincy to Bieska because... No time? Okay. Back when I used to coach Bobby Orr... No time? Okay. Good ol Toronaaah boy.

He did. He also said Phaneuf should be stripped. So again, there is no story here. Just calling it as he sees it.

Yes.

But "Phaneuf" is kind of a French name, isn't it?

All joking aside, the best part of that segment was his tribute to Jakob. I am sure that does a lot for the family of those kids, knowing that someone like Don takes a few moments of his time to say some special words. That is heroic stuff, and to think it actually gets criticized and critiqued on here is pretty disheartening. People can say what they want about it, but the families appreciate it...and that is enough for me.

Thanks guys. I don't mind his reasoning, but who on each team do you think would be a better fit to wear the C?

f4apg, I'm a fan of the tributes too, shows class.

Tough to say without being in the room. I think both need to be guys who are ultra-confident and composed with the media, since in those cities that comes with the job.

On a slightly different note, I am a big fan of what the Leafs did today. I absolutely think Shanny is the right man for the job.
