So we the addition of STumpel and Joey N. where does this leave the "yougn guns" for center room? I mean Olli, Stumpel, Joe N are all center and that leaves guys like Weiss out of the loop.

Trade perhaps?

Time to say bye bye to one of Jokinen or Weiss, or even both with Stumpel, Nieuwendyk, and Gratton all signed.

Smells fishy, this signing.

I think Keenan expects Jokinen to hold out because they can't agree on a deal (which has been reported as a more than insignificant possibility), and so he's signing a passable top line center, and Jokinen's rights will be traded upon his holdout. We'll probably get coupons for Shakey's in exchange, or some trade equally Keenanesque.

Of course, the other possibility is certain players playing new positions? Weiss at LW, for instance? Stumpel at RW? Jokinen on defense?

Okay, I'm joking about that last one

Slowly this team is becoming taken over by veteran players...we sign another center, either pushing Weiss to the checking line, the AHL, or making him trade bait, and now the rumours circulating that Keenan is offering Bouwmeester for Jovo? (He already offered him for Pronger, so I would not be surprised if there's some validity to this)

Ugh, and I thought this free agency period was getting boring!

I suspect you jest about more than that last line, seeing as how there are no Shakey's in Florida.

Scoundrel!!

Stupid move by Keenan. Perhaps he plans on sending Weiss and others back to the minors unless they have a phenominal training camp. And even if they make the team, one bad game and they'll probably go there anyways.

Keenan doesn't know how to build a team. All these old guys don't make the Panthers a contender, and in the long run when they retire or go elsewhere they won't have an experienced core of young guys to build around because they weren't given a chance to play.

Slumpel is absolute garbage, I am very glad he is not a King anymore, maybe he can do something in Florida but I wouldnt count on it! Bad pick up IMO

What would Panthers fans like from the Oilers for Jokinen or Weiss?

“Jozef is another player that adds depth and experience to our team,” said Keenan. “He is a proven playmaker who has the ability to play at both ends of the ice. This acquisition gives us flexibility in our line-up as he can play center or on the wing, as well as on our special teams.”
Is this to lure Bondra here, or is this who we get for that RW role we've been seeking?

This is ****ing Bull****. I can no longer stand Keenan and have no patience for this non-sense anymore. Now almost half of our forward courps is made up of over-the-hill has-beens whose collective health is in question and will surely have trouble finding the back of the net next season. Grade A offseason Mr. Keenan.

I'm frustrated to the point of exhaustion with this team and this management.

Stumpel??? WHY? Is Keenan hoping he'll play rw and be our #1 rw? Alot of you are forgetting we also signed Gratton an player who wont play any other place (or shouldnt) than center. Say good bye to Jokinen, Weiss, Bouwmeester or Huselius or all of them.

What an goal machine too.. 151 goals in 758 games. Anyone know is he an good faceoff man ?

This is just an so untypical Keenan signing (soft european) I'm really scared what trades he's about to pull off.. soo good bye to the yougth.

I feel you. First 3 signings I understood. These last two.. just why? Take spots of our yougth. I bet we'll move yougth for more 30+ hasbeens.. Btw.. did you notice Keenan has said the same thing after every signing "(insert player name) is another player that adds depth and experience to our team"

The Oiler's org. is very high on Torres at the moment but I'd do that first deal, on the second one I'd pass on a straight Hemsky for Weiss swap.

I don't really get this...

For me, an addition that does not cost us any players and has regular 40+ point season, how is that bad? I can see it is not great, but still it helps out.

I have too many other questionmarks to start questioning veteran signings just yet.

- Huselius, good or bad?
- Jokinen, signed or what?
- Hagman, good or bad?
- Weiss, ready or not?

For me, depth like Stumpel is a decent move to make...

This isn't that bad of a signing for a 2nd line RW/3rd line C, I mean the guy has anywhere from 30 to 50 assists a season. I really don't see the problem if he was signed cheap.

151 goals in 758 games but he's also had 397 assists and a career +/- of +45.

He's put up decent #'s for a role guy everywhere he's played.
