Offers four Boughner or Sauer

Since the Avs aquired Curtis Leschyshyn and signed J-M Liles they have 8 NHL D-men. What would you give up for one of the two?

who are the 8? i only counted 7...

anyway, i'm no fan of sauer...how much does boughner make? if markov landed only a 3rd rounder, i assume that boughner won't fetch all that much.

Blake-Vaananen
Skrastins-Brisebois
Sauer-Boughner
Liles-Leschyshyn

Boughner $950,000
Sauer $718,200

And i don't think PL will trade Sauer..

He drafted him, didn't sign, now traded for him and now again trades?

That sounds bit confusing.

How about a 4th or 5th rounder?

950k for Boogerand 718k for Sauer, so I expect Bob is the one that goes.

It's Blake, Liles, Breezeby, Vaananen, Boughner, Lechy, Sauer, and Skrastins.

But still i don't get it.. Boughner is good defenseman, perhaps better than leschyshyn

Why we signed leschyshyn?

I have to admit that I am not fully conversent with the Avs talent but it seems to me that your top 7 would be:

1) Blake 2) Vaananen 3) Skrastins 4) Brisebois 5) Boughner 6) Liles
7) Leschyshyn

With Sauer being on the farm and being the injury fill-in guy. Why would you want to trade one of these guys away?

More cap space an extra pick. I'm not sure Sauer can go to Lowell without being exposed to waivers and I'm sure he doesn't have a 2-way contract. I think it'll do Boychik some good to do some injury call ups with the big club.

I wouldn't panic about having too many Dmen, I'd rather be caught with 1 too man Dmen and 1 too few Forwards than 1 too many forwards and 1 too few D. It's easier to go D->F than F->D, and with the way the cap works it not a bad thing to have more depth on D than F. You can always convert one to a forward if/when injury comes and play them on the 4th line (limited playing time there anyway). Most of the time they are just going to sit in the pressbox and watch.

I'm surprised there hasn't been more talk about guys that play both positions well. Under the cap system, these guys are gold to have in terms of team flexibility.

Not panicing just if there is a deal I'd rather do it early. 950K in space could be valuable at the deadline. And I'm just trying to gaue value.

They wouldn't consider moving Skrastins? He's at 1.4m.

Colorado will have 1.5 M in cap space now that the roster is set. That's ideal because the cap will likely fall next season. Further, that 1.5 M allows the Avs to trade for a 6 M dollar player at the trade deadline. I feel a major trade will be forthcoming.

That's a great deal.

Karlis is arguably our #2 or #3 defenseman.

I think you'd be better off making a package deal ...something like Sauer, Hinote, and a pick for someone like Afinogenov to help with the top 6.

I agree...I thin that is exactly why Montreal went out to get Dandy

How 'bout Eric Belanger from LA for Boughner?

Belanger makes roughly $750K on a one year deal. He's a 3rd/4th line center with offensive upside and tremendous face-off skills. He's got great chemisty with Laperriere, and is a solid forechecker.

The Kings need a veteran defenseman to round out their top-6. LA may be pursuing a 2, 3 or 4th d-man, but a guy like Bougher would see some solid minutes while LA looks for the right trade.

*sigh*

I really want Belanger to be an Av but I don't see it happening.

Thing is... Avs don't need a 3rd/4th liner... they got them in Spades....

Just like they have solid 5th/6th D men...

Avs have depth at the blueline..

Blake
Skrach
Vanny
Boughner
Breazzy
Liles
Sauer
Leschyshyn

Assuming that Leschyshyn was signed to be the 7th D man(or to split time with another at the 6 spot) there is an odd man out...

Clark is more than servicable at the 8th D man spot as the callup D man and for the most part that list is a healthy bunch.

Avs have stocked up on depth..but lack that extra top line punch....Perhaps PL will just sit on his depth untill the deadline and then add that top line talent....but they all deserve to be regular NHL level players..

Another thought is that if memory serves Boughner has played some wing in his days...but I could be wrong..

Boughner for a 4th round pick to Vancouver would be fine with me.
