Grand Rapids Griffins sign F Alden Hirschfeld to a 1-year AHL contract.

http://www.griffinshockey.com/news/r...rticle_id=2854

Quote:
Hirschfeld, 26, spent the majority of the 2013-14 season with the ECHL’s Toledo Walleye and picked up 29 points (9-20—29) in 49 games. The 6-foot, 203-pound forward ranked second on the Walleye in assists and sixth overall in scoring. He also made 13 appearances with the Griffins last season, notching a goal, an assist and a plus-three rating.

Hi Guys, Sorry I'm a beginner here

I was wondering what is going on with these players. Are they Retired? And If so, do you have any link to prove it?

Brett Lebda (ok retired)
Mark Mittera (ok retired)
Michael Sauer (Mike) (ok retired)
Graham Mink
Jeff May
Chris Murray (D) (1984)
Evan Barlow (ok retired)
Charlie Effinger (ok retired, he works now for a hedge fund company In New York, 2nd Curve Capital)
Sean Collins (D) (1983) (ok retired)
Jon Sim
Robbie Earl (ok signed)
Chris Carrozzi (ok retired)
Jimmy Bubnick (ok retired)
Justin Daniels (ok retired)
Kyle De Laurell (ok retired)
Tyler Stahl (ok retired)
Brad Peltz (Ok Retired)
Hal Gill
David Aebischer
Jeff Halpern
Mike Mottau
Kent Huskins (ok signed)
Brett Clark
Radek Martinek (OK Retired)
Corey Sarich (ok, i've found it he had an accident 2 days ago)
Andrew Albert (maybe retired soon, concussion)
David Laliberté
Zach Mckelvie (Ok I've found it he is now assistant coach for the Black Knights Army of West Point)
Jerred Smithson
Ben Ryan (ok retired)

Normaly eliteprospects can help, but for these players no one is considered as retired (except Zach Mckelvie since I wrote them).

I can't find anything about their retirement. For some of them, I have almost the answer, but couldn't find if they are really retired or not.

For example. For Jimmy Bubnick, i've found that he studied at University of Saskatchewan, he won the Howard Nixon trophy for the Rookie of the year and that he had a direct entry to the Edwards School of Business or Engineering. His 2 older brothers both ended up playing hockey after 1 year in University of Saskatechewan. So what happened to Jimmy Bubnick in year 2013-14. He didn't played hockey.

This is only one example for what I've found on these plyers and that'S why I ask for a little help! Thanks a lot again!

I hope i'm at the good place to ask it and Thank you for your help.

Not everybody "officially" announces their retirement, most just stop playing hockey or move onto other endeavors. Quite a few of the player you've listed are actually still technically active (played in 2013-14, but don't have contracts in place for 2014-15).

This one's not "official" yet.

per the Owen Sound Attack's twitter

Congrats to @gothope26 on signing with the AHL's Springfield Falcons. They're getting a great player and kid!
@gohop26 is 21-year-old LW Kyle Hope who played for Owen Sound in the OHL last season, then played 2 games with Lake Erie of the AHL.

You can file this in the all but confirmed rumor bin, but San Antonio PBP man Dan Weiss just tweeted that he bumped into Matt Watkins in Minneapolis who told him he's headed to Vienna soon to get ready for next season.

Twitter is blocked at work, so I can't link but Dan's twitter is @danweisspbp

-Lee Moffie who spent most of last season with Denver (CHL) while under contract with Lake Erie has signed with South Carolina (ECHL).

-Also, it seems that Zack McKelvie (Abbotsford) has retired. The 29 year old defenceman has been named assistant coach at the Army hockey program.

Oklahoma City signs NHL veteran Jason Williams

Quote:
The Oklahoma City Barons signed centerman Jason Williams to an American Hockey League contract, the club’s front office announced today.

Williams, a 5-11, 185-pounder from London, Ontario has played the last two seasons with Ambri-Piotta in the Swiss Elite League. During those two seasons, he recorded 64 points (34-30-64) in 79 games. During the 12-13 season, he led the team with 26 goals and 46 points.
http://okcbarons.com/index.cfm?fa=pr...C-3D241CF88129

I wouldn't be shocked to see Williams play well enough to get a couple games in the NHL next season (After signing an NHL deal of course).

I would be shocked to see Williams with the Oilers, he had a terrible season with Ambri-Piotta, worst differential on the team (-12), and couldn't reach 20 points (even if he known for being an offensive winger) so he struggled in both offense and defense.

That being said, it is not impossible that he can bounce back next year with OCB
