What's your favourite Flyers defense pairing?

Now that the defense pairings have been stable for a while, which one is your favorite one? Be it due to how well they play or due to other factors, it doesn't matter what the reasoning behind your decision is. Everything is valid. Maybe just add a note about said reasoning, though

For me, it's gotta be Streit - Grossmann, even though I love all three pairings at this point. Streit is my absolute favorite player on defense, hands down, and I've been OK with Grossmann lately, as well. That being said, Coburn is also starting to grow back on me a bit, and MacDonald has also surprised me in a positive way.

I have a lot of faith in Schenn going forward. Mac's been fine. If it was Schenn-Gross, T-C would have gotten my vote.

Timonen - Coburn for me, easily.

Streit- Grossmann is by far the worst.

Gus/Schenn should be here, but the Flyers org is terrified of young defensemen. Troubling, because we have a lot of those in the system. Here's hoping last year's draft doesn't go down as a waste.

I voted Coburn-Timonen because Timonen.

Schenn - MacDonald... I love how much Schenn has gotten with MacD on the pair with him, it really is important to this team that they continue to get better with the potential retirement of Kimmo. And I am really impressed with how well MacD has been playing since coming here.

Timonen-Coburn, how can it not be everyone's favourite? Big, mobile, responsible d man that can play physically with the opponents best players. Smart, savvy veteran that quarterbacks the PP and is the most poised, and best puck mover on the team. Besides this pairing should of been together for years.

No contest, really. I wish I could choose Schenn-MacDonald, but Coburn and Timonen are just our best dudes.

I'm glad you used the word favorite. Physical play alone doesn't necessarily make for fan favorites, because there are a lot of sub-categories to that. Coburn can't hurt you and so no one in the league is intimidated by him. "Good physical play" doesn't get the fans' blood up. Thundering hits and a mean edge do.

Luke and Amac. Kimmo and Coburn have been playing well as of late but I really like what I see in Amac and what he has done for Luke's game.

Coburn and Timonen are just so skilled. It's a no brainer if you ask me.

However, in the long term, I'd choose Schenn-MacD since they seem to almost be the future of our defence.

I don't know what's wrong with you if you picked Grossmann. Sorry, he's an absolute idiot.

No one chose Grossmann, that wasn't an option.

And for those of you asking about Gus, the reason I didn't put him in the poll is a) because it's my damn poll , but more importantly, b) he isn't on any of our regular defense pairings and hasn't been in a while.

The Defense has been pretty solid since Berube took over. What drove me absolutely nuts was that under Lavy, none of the D pinched. If the puck got past our forwards, the D would back off instead of racing up to play the loose puck.

I went with Schenn/Mac - The D with the most hits last year and 3rd among D this year, and the D leading the league in blocked shots. Love that Schenn is picking his spots a bit better and not taking himself out of position as much, those hits along the boards driving other guys into the stanchions are beauts!
