Gionta-Eller-Bourque

What do you guys think? That looked like a very good third line tonight. What is your third line when the playoffs start?

...good 3rd line...if Bork can keep up the effort, I like it...if he slips back to his normal coasting, replace with Prust or Moen when they're healthy...

The sample size is small, and their usage was extremely erratic, but all three are showing life together and I wouldn't mind seeing more of that.

What to do with Briere? Does he become a 2nd unit PP specialist?

I'm still not sold with Bourque, he always has 1 good game and then 10 bad ones. The guy has 36 pts in 124 games with us. That's beyond bad.

I don't see him on the fourth line, so either he dislodges Eller on the third, or it's the bench (assuming Bourque keeps it up of course). Maybe as a replacement for Galchenyuk or Gallagher if they falter in the playoffs, but I highly doubt it.

Eller is a lock on the 3rd line IMO. He is used on the PK a lot and plays important 5on5 minutes.

Any reason for not typing out his name correctly?

Depends on Bourque. Sometimes he's good most of the time he's a blackhole.

So you're gonna bench the best playoff performer on the team?

Our playoffs third line should be either:

Prust - Briere - Gionta

or

Eller - Briere - Gionta

Bourque was pretty good in last year playoffs. If he wakes up in time he could be a good third liner for us.

We are in an anomalous situation where none of our good offensive players are injured.

Perfect third line. I always thought that Gionta should be the perfect shutdown third liner for us going down the line. And let's face it, Eller is made to be there.

And if Bork doesn't work there, we can always use Bournival in his place.

Hopefully, these guys get some chemistry going and gain momentum for the playoffs.

Wonder where Brière fits now. He's absolutely clutch in the playoffs.

Anyways, Bork-Eller-Gio has just been great, especially tonight. Glad it's clicking.

Eller-Gio is a great duo on the 3rd line. I'd rather see Bourni on the left wing

Briere should be on the wings, we really shouldn't go into the playoffs with two defensive liability Cs.

Briere should play centre on the fourth line with a combination of Prust, Moen, Bournival, Weise and White depending who is healthy and play second power play unit with Galchenyuk and Plekanec.

It's good line if Bourque comes to compete. Otherwise, the duo Eller-Bourque has shown to be a failure more often than not. I'd rather have Bournival slot in there instead of Bourque, for consistency's sake.

Let's just hope we can salvage Eller. If he comes back to his old self we'll be a way better team.

Just on player quality, it's a fantastic 3rd line.

Absolute luxury.

2 past 30 goal scorers. Eller's back to playing well after a long, tough stretch. Both Eller and Gionta can play solid, no nonsense defense. The key is Bourque here. He stays motivated? Line's going to dominate, especially as most defensive attention will be given to the 1st and 2nd lines.

He goes back into hibernation? Line's gonna be bleh.

I think the Eller-Gionta duo is a great, solid basis for a 3rd line however. Prust, Moen, Weise or Bournival could work very well there if Bourque casts Vanish on himself again.
