It was a small move but it might have very well just cost us points in that game.
Yup. 6:08 on the clock when that face off occurred.

Most of you would have taken that record before the games started.

Take a deep breath; if they win three of the last five games, they're in... and that doesn't count any potential losses from the teams behind them.
Would have, but they were fortunate to win some of the games they won, vs. Chicago, Dallas, St. Louis especially.

Most GW goals on the team this year.

5th best NHL playoff PPG ratio since entering the NHL.

I also believe he has the most 3rd period points in the NHl this season... though I may be wrong.

Yet he ain't clutch.

And the fact that Gus is still frowned upon by the powers that be sure speaks volumes about their inability to recognize what sort of D potential they have. Gotta play that vet Grossmann at all costs! Even if he's a bum!
Who's the last dman they have drafted that had any worth while potential though? Pitkanen and that's about it. They didn't so much botch them, they were never that great in the first place.

Tbh even if they win 2 of them remaining games they are almost certainly in.

Win 1 of the last 5 and they have over 50% chance.

How many goals did he score at the end of last season when we need wins. What about the past 5 games? How about the NJ series 3 years ago? In fact take away the pitt series and those numbers look very average...

That brutal schedule finally caught up to them. I think it took a lot out of them losing those two shootouts...its hard to play well and still take a loss.

They have been resilient most of the year, hopefully they take a deep breath, regroup, and have a strong decisive win tomorrow. If they lose against Florida or Buffalo because they get outworked, they dont deserve to be in the playoffs.

I mean, let's be honest...this isn't a contending team. They're not gonna be able to consistently keep up with and beat the Bostons of the world. This is a first or second round exit sort of team, depending on matchups. Just too many weaknesses on the roster.

Also Giroux is the last guy who should be blamed.

Another good game overall by Emery, and for much of the game the team gave him the support he needs to thrive. But in the last ten minutes they just hung him out there. He was looking gassed at the end. He did what he had to but the team wasn't good enough.

I can see it happening. I just don't like the defensive personel and inconsistent young players.

I'm really starting to grow tired of seeing Grossmann.

Pitkanen had a great start to his career here as well until he became a basket case & couldn't handle the pressure.

Gus simply does not have the talent nor the pedigree compared to those guys for me to draw that conclusion.

Just stating that three wins, no matter what else happens (New Jersey and Toronto winning out, for example), guarantees a spot.

Argggghhh!

I know after a loss it's easy to complain about certain players, but I haven't been too happy with Read's play of late. Weak on the puck, failed clears, missing assignments, and not generating offense. Pretty much the same way I would describe Brayden Schenn's game.

Rinaldo's missed shot leading to that 4th goal should let Berube know he shouldn't be in the top 9. I liked him taking the shot but you can't miss like that.

They scored on the one PP, but overall I thought the PP was still pretty poor.

Emery played good and they didn't get shutout. Other then that, the sky is falling.

Oh yeah, and Rosehill.

The last dman with top flight potential they actually succeeded with? Probably Jim Watson. And yes, I would say they botched Pitkanen. They handled him poorly overall. They did practically nothing to keep him in town.

But they've shown, overall, a nearly complete inability to develop their own dmen. They can't even manage top 6 guys, much less top guys. They flat out can't trust them. They have an addiction to veterans.

Without him putting the team on his back earlier, these games wouldn't even matter right now. We would be looking at draft options.

Also, Berube is still annoying me. The people who cry every time I mention him can go ahead and defend him, but he makes stupid decisions.

Gus should be in instead of Grossman because they guy is terrible, Vinny should never be taking defensive zone faceoffs, the 2nd line in general shouldn't be out there in the 3rd period for a defensive zone faceoff since they're not capable of playing defense, and the lines aren't working and the changes he makes don't fix the obvious problems. THEY NEED TO MAKE REAL CHANGES TO THE LINES.

Why is it that the 2nd line and 2nd pairing are our at the same time so much of the game???? Neither of them can score at even strength of play defense.

Also anyone complaining about Giroux... just stop, you're embarrassing yourself. It's basically he does everything himself or there's no goal scoring. At even strength a goal from any line other than the 1st line is incredibly rare and the 1st PP unit is the only one that has a chance to score because he does 99% of the work on there too. We need some people to score when he's not on the ice.

That's about as ridiculous of a comment as the ones blaming him right now.

He has a long way to go before making that type of statement.

You guys could lose a hundred straight, and I would still pick you to beat the Pens in a first-round match-up. Seems like you own them.

Couturier had his first game with Rinaldo on his line the whole game, and goes -2 for the first time in 24 games. Incidentally, that game was first Boston game.

G is a good clutch player. He just wants it so much it gets in the way. He needs to figure that out.

Need to shuffle the top 3 lines and get vinny back on the 4th.

Gus HAS to be in over Grossmann next game. Seriously it's gone on long enough. Grossmann is horrendous and the lesser option. Has to be done now Berube
