Laviolette or Tippet with Billy G and Tocchet as assistant coaches with Martin.

Bylsma as the equipment manager

Probably Lav but it would be kind of awkward going from one side of the Philly/Pittsburgh rivalry to the other. For some reason I don't think Shero will go in that direction. Just a gut feeling.

No interest in Oates. He seems as stubborn and stuck in his ways as Bylsma.

My guess is Shero would hire one of Martin or Hynes. He'd probably jump at the chance to hire Trotz for better or worse if he gets let go by Nashville.

I'm probably the only guy on this board that really likes Dan Bylsma. So I vote Dan Bylsma. Unless somehow Mike Babcock becomes available Bylsma is the best available option.

Maybe hiring Sutter would make his son not be such a *****.

And hiring Hynes would just be the same deal as we had with Bylsma. Young coach learning the ropes while having one of the best rosters in the NHL. We need a coach who has NHL chops, and one that has experienced success before.

The entire city of Boston would have an aneurysm if Ulf became the head coach. For that reason I'm 100% behind Ulf.

Add Phil Jackson to the list.

I'd be fine with giving Laviolette a try. I really don't think Jacques Martin is a good head coach, and if they promoted Hynes I'd probably start sobbing. They need a legit change.

What is it about his coaching that you like? I'm honestly curious, because I just don't understand how anyone can still be in his corner at this point.

This Pens team needs a coach to go in the locker room and do that in the worst way. It would be way more effective for this group than DB calmly blabbing about getting to our game.

It warms my heart that speeches like this are actually given in NHL locker rooms. Therrien absolutely nailed it in his spiel about hockey being a game of hard work and passion. That was a spectacular rallying cry by Laviolette. I think any authority figure/leader needs to be able to provide that sort of tough love when it's needed. By his own admission, Bylsma isn't a "yeller," but I hold out a sliver of hope that he still commands respect in the locker room and is tough on guys when he needs to be. The biggest indicator of that should be the amount of emotion/intensity we see from our players, and unfortunately there hasn't been enough of that lately.

I dont' have much faith in DB's ability to coach this team to a Cup. I'm just hoping he doesn't make too many dumb decisions, that the room knows that are likely to be major consequences if they don't go deep this year and Sid/Geno discover 09 playoff mode again.

Why Oats? We would fall into the same trap when MT was fired and we brought in Bylsma.

I say we find a proven coach like a Lavs or Trotz.
