A win tonight and a CBJ loss guarantees us no lower than the 3 seed, let's get it done

I'd prefer CBJ in round 1, at least we'll see a 110% effort from Nash

That means CBJ should win the rest of their games, and Philly lose.

Or... Columbus passes Detroit in the standings, eliminate Pittsburgh, and we play them in the Conference Semi's. Tampa will eliminate Montreal and Boston and we will have a Cally vs. MSL showdown

yeah, me as well. looking at schedule, even if we win our next 2, we have to go to the house of horrors. (maybe they'll have 2nd sewed up).

Philly only really has Pittsburgh, and they aint looking so great lately. Man, we dont do anything easy and that loss to Ottawa might hurt that 2 position.

Guess we'll have to use Talbot for the road games in that final then

We need to win 2 out of the last 3 and it doesn't matter what CBJ does. Also, 1 PHI loss in any of their last 4 clinches us home ice (assuming we win 2 out of 3)

I'm sure Hagelin - Richards - Fast will be used as the third line.

I think that's a safe bet. It also relies heavily on the Nash line clicking, because that unit won't produce too much offense.

I really question AV's reasoning behind some of his lines, sometimes.

He put Fast with Boyle and Pyatt last time.

Now he has Fast and Hagelin with Richards?

Richards is far slower than either player. In addition, Richards usually will skate into the offensive zone with the puck. His style of play is much more conducive to an East-West style of hockey, at this point in his career, than a North-South.

Fast could potentially fit in with Richards, but throwing two guys with blazing speed on his wings is setting him up to fail.

Fast averages 1.5 shot attempts per game in HFD. Hagelin is rarely in position, or able to handle the puck well enough, to get off any type of consistent shot other than a wrap around.

Richards will fail with these two line mates.

Hagelin should be on the 1st line. Nash thrives when he has a fast puck retriever on his line. MSL is not a puck retriever.

Try MSL with Fast. Try and ease him into the fire. Play him with 2 vets who can really open up the ice for him offensively.

Balance your offensive attack.

If these are the lines heading into the playoffs, i'll be bewildered. Against Carolina... its not as big of a problem. Against the Flyers or Penguins or Blue Jackets or Bruins? Much bigger problem, as any of them will likely be able to match their best defensive pairing and shut down our super line.

That's usually the way the cookie crumbles. Evidenced by "MSL will score tonight" being used on a game-in basis.

I believe this year, more so than in years past, will be a much more offensive playoffs than we are accustomed to.

Boston doesn't have a shut down defensive corps. Krug, Hamilton, Bartowski, Chara are all offensively minded defensemen. Chara is also regarded as a defensive defenseman, but that's because of positioning and long reach. He has defensive holes that are becoming far more evident w/o Seidenberg in the lineup. They will rely a lot on Rask's play.

Pitt's defense is equally as holed. Problem with them is that Fleury is not as consistent as Rask. He can have severe meltdowns at times.

Philadelphia's defense is atrocious. They also have a journeyman goalie who may or may not show up on any given game.

Columbus has a few rookies and a few average-above average defensemen. They're physical, but much of their success is relying on Bob to show up.

Tampa Bay's defense is porous, but like several other team's i've just mentioned, their starting goalie - Ben Bishop, is an enigma to many offenses around the league.

Montreal's defense is nothing spectacular. They like to play a fast paced game that allows for many opportunities going both ways. Carey Price is relied on heavily there too.

Detroit is dealing with far more injuries this season than in years past. Without Howard, they likely wouldn't even be a playoff team.

It is conceivable, that the Rangers, with a new defensive style of hockey that is much more open than in years past, have a top 2 defense in the East. They have a top 3 goalie in the league. And they have a very balanced offense, if all players remain healthy/come back from injury.

I'm expecting a lot of higher scoring games this playoffs.
