We'd have to number one unless we could acquire someone else. I'd rather keep Maatta over Yak too. Even though I think Yak will come around.

Maybe that's what you feel it would take for you to want to trade them but that's not their value

You must watch him a lot right to be able to make such comments....

Yep...and there's not even a discussion to be had about him being better than Neal.

Pittsburgh says no. Even if Bylsma was miraculously fired tomorrow, Yakupov is a poor fit for both Sid & Geno in my mind. He's a lousy fit for Sid, who needs guys who go to the net and win board battles, and Geno needs a puck retrieval guy himself as Neal is already the triggerman on that line.

I don't think Yakupov is completely spoiled as far as his NHL future is concerned, not at all, I just see him as a bad fit for the Penguins as they're built right now, and a worse fit for a team in the Pacific Division. Put him in a place like Long Island and I think he'd flourish.

From an unbiased outsider.

Maatta for Yakupov 1 for 1 seems pretty fair.

What makes me laugh is how People describe Yakupov like he is a 38 year old on his last legs. Come on Hf be better posters.

Well when you never actually watch him and really know nothing about him besides that he had a bad season then it's the logical assumption

Oiler fans must think Yak is still worth the 1st overall pick. Another season like this past one, and I think he jets for Russia.

As for the trade, I wouldn't trade Maatta for Yak barring huge, unrealistic overpayment.

Nobody's talking about Yakupov like that. Pens fans just don't want to trade a younger, currently better player for him, let alone add their #1 goalie and have the only Oilers sweetener be a defense prospect they don't need.

They're a contender. Trading the two best, most established players in a deal for wildcards would be stupid.

Teams don't trade that high potential prospects at all time low value, EDM will rather see him bust, than trade him for some low offer

I haven't seen anyone in this thread say anything even remotely close to that. Only that he's not necessarily a good fit on the Pens/with Crosby or Malkin or that we would prefer to keep Maatta.

Nope. We don't need Fleury, Scrivens and Fasth are both better and Klefbom is as good as Määttä. If Pens wants Yakupov, Malkin is coming back.

Scrivens and Fasth are better than Fleury
Klefbom is as good as Maatta
It would take Malkin to get Yakupov

Holy overrating. Your homer/bias is showing.

You guys (as in the Pens) really should have ponied up for Hemksy rather than settling for Stepniak, since we are talking oilers/sens.

What happened to Vokoun? Did he officially retire yet or on long term injured?

He just got sent to WBS for a conditioning assignment. So I guess we'll find out in the next few days if he's ready to return. He's a UFA after this season anyway and even if he wasn't, with his health concerns I don't think the Pens could trade Fleury & rely on him as #1. He's got the talent IMO, but if his clotting issues returned the Pens would be screwed.

Edit: he hinted that he probably would retire after the season either way.

That's up to the coaches,” Vokoun said. “When we talked back in January, I told them I'm open-minded. Regardless of what happened, I was 90 percent sure it was going to be my last season anyway.
