What will be the healthy lineup for the playoffs?

Who can we expect to be ready and will the pens be able to make another run at the stanley cup?

What I would want:

Kunitz-Crosby-Bennett
Megna-Malkin-Neal
Jokinen-Sutter-Stempniak
Gibbons-Goc-Vitale

Letang-Scuderi
Martin-Despres
Maatta-Niskanen

(If Letang is out Martin-Scuderi 1st pairing and Despres-Bortuzzo on 3rd pairing)

Bennett line 1 RW or line 2 LW. Stempniak line 3 RW or line 1 RW. The bottom 6 to me can be somewhat scrambled without much change, but as long as Adams, Glass, and Pyatt stay away from the lineup I think that bottom 6 is quick enough to do damage. I would have Harry Z, Engelland, and even Pyatt all ahead of Glass and Adams for injury reserves.

What I expect:

Kunitz-Crosby-Bennett
Stempniak-Malkin-Neal
Jokinen-Sutter-Gibbons
Glass-Goc-Adams

Letang-Scuderi
Orpik-Martin
Maatta-Niskanen

(If Letang is out Orpik/Martin to 1st pairing, Scuderi/Engelland to 3rd – yikes)

I just know Bylsma is going to fool around with the LW on line 2 and ultimately get it wrong. There’s a shot he could even have Pyatt in instead of Gibbons. One of Adams or Glass will get scratched when DB’s back is against the wall – likely Glass. Poor Goc.

All of this being said, a fully healthy Penguins lineup?! talk about unrealistic scenarios.

Simon Depres needs to play in the top 6.

I would be very surprised to see Letang come back this season.

I have Despres in my top 6 in both scenarios whether or not Letang is playing. I don't expect Dan to.

I expect.

Kunitz, Crosby, Stempniak
Jokinen, Malkin, Neal
Bennett/Pyatt, Sutter, Bennett/Megna/Gibbons
Glass/Megna/Gibbons, Goc/Vitale/Gibbons/Adams, Adams/Vitale/Gibbons/Megna
The wheel of justice as the 13th forward, but what if they use 7 D-man?

With this seasons luck it's easier to lose another forward than defenseman. In the playoffs being down to 5 D-man in a game can cost you more. Maybe Engelland as the 12th forward?

I'm not even considering Letang is good to go.

7 D-man
Maatta, Niskanen
Orpik, Martin
Bortuzzo, Scuderi
One of (Despres/Engelland) on any given game-day.

Fresher D-corps not taxing anyone in a hopeful long run.

I'm not expecting Letang to be back, and given how Goc's ankle bent I think 3 weeks is very optimistic for him. If Bennett continues to play the way he has in his first two games back, he should be on the second line over Jokinen.

Kunitz-Crosby-Stempniak
Bennett-Malkin-Neal
Jokinen-Sutter-Gibbons/Megna
Glass-Vitale-Adams

Orpik-Martin
Scuderi-Niskanen
Maatta-Bortuzzo

Expecting:

Kunitz - Crosby - Stempniak
Jokinen - Malkin - Neal
Goc - Sutter - Bennett
Glass - Adams - Gibbons/Vitale/Pyatt/Megna

Orpik - Martin
Maatta - Nisknanen
Scuderi - Bortuzzo/Despres/Engelland

What I'd go with:

Kunitz - Crosby - Stempniak
Jokinen - Malkin - Neal
Goc - Sutter - Bennett
Glass - Vitale - Gibbons
Adams

Orpik - Martin
Maatta - Niskanen
Scuderi - Bortuzzo/Despres

would give Bennett shifts on the top and 2nd lines especially if guys struggle (even if they don't). Rely heavily of the top 9 but can shift Goc to centre if we need to roll all 4 lines.

PP1
Kunitz - Crosby - Neal
Niskanen - Malkin

PP2:
Jokinen - Bennett - Stempniak
Martin - Maatta

I want Bylsma to be smarter with the PPs, having Crosby, Malkin and sometimes Nisky out there for the whole 2 minutes is a shortie waiting to happen. I'd also have Bennett or Stempniak as the 1st forward change as the right shot gives us a different look.

PK:
Goc - Vitale
Crosby - Sutter
Glass - Gibbons

Orpik - Martin
Scuderi - Maatta/Bortuzzo
Bortuzzo/Maatta

Kunitz-Crosby-Stempniak
Jokinen-Malkin-Neal
Bennett-Sutter-Goc
Glass-Vitale-Adams

Bennett and Jokinen can rotate as needed, and Stempniak could also slide to the third line and get replaced with Bennett if that's what the situation calls for.

Letang-Scuderi
Orpik-Martin
Niskanen-Maatta

Assuming Tanger is back. This probably isn't the optimal combination of players (I'd like to see Despres in there instead of Orpik, and Maatta playing with Letang) but I'm betting it's what we'll see. If Kris can't go, I'm thinking:

Orpik-Martin
Niskanen-Scuderi
Maatta-Bortuzzo

I don't think so. In fact, if I were the speculating kind, I would say the things I've heard recently, combined with the odd case of Simon Despres, Dan Bylsma is saying YOLO and going down with HIS guys.

he was injured this past week, playoffs don't start for 2.5 weeks. If he hits his timetable, he should be back during round 1.

I can completely see this. I just think(and hope) that Gibbons will win the battle for a permanent job over Pyatt in this case.

Glass-Goc-Adams instead of Vitale-Goc-Megna as a 4th line is making me furious. But that´s what is gonna happen.

Bennett/Jokinen battle for a TOP6 is also unclear now. Beau was outplaying Jussi by a wide margin in these last two games, though. I don´t like Jussi on the 2nd line. Jokinen-Sutter-Gibbons could be a very solid 3rd line.

Only reason Pyatt has looked moderately better is because of Gibbons so picking him over Gibby would be illogical (so there is a good chance Bylsma does it.)

Ideally for me:
Kunitz-Crosby-Stempniak
Bennett-Malkin-Neal
Jokinen-Goc-Pyatt
Gibbons-Vitale-Glass
(Megna rotates in for Pyatt/Glass/Gibbons)

Letang-Scuderi
Orpik-Martin
Niskanen-Maata
(Despres rotates in for anyone not performing including Letang, Orpik, Martin, or Scuderi)

Fleury
Vokoun
(Zatkoff)

Did you leave Sutter out on purpose?

For me:

Kunitz-Crosby-Stempniak
BB-Malkin-Neal
JJ-Sutter/Goc-Goc/Sutter
Megna-Vitale-Gibbons/Glass/Pyatt (depending on opponent/performance)

Martin-Orpik
Scuderi-Despres/Letang
Maatta-Niskanen

Kunitz-Crosby-Stempniak
Jokinen-Malkin-Neal
Pyatt-Sutter-Beau
Glass-Vitale-Adams

Against Columbus DB will roll with that. He'll want to play his heavy guy in Pyatt over Gibbons. When Goc is back. Vitale comes out. DB will only take Gladams out when we're in danger of losing a series.

What I'd do? Play to our damn strengths and go with speed and skill throughout the lineup.

Kunitz-Sid-Stempniak
Beau-Geno-Neal
Jokinen-Sutter-Gibbons
Megna-Goc-Vitale

DB said the bottom 6 could be determined by who the pens play in round 1.

So if the pens play a heavy team like Columbus you might see Pyatt, if the pens play a skill team like Detroit you might see Gibbons.

If BB plays good the rest of the season i do think BB will play with Geno.
