In order for this team to have any type of success we're gonna need scoring (obv).

Desharnais and Pacioretty, while playing great right now, haven't enjoyed success in the playoffs. This will need to change.

I'm not expecting a lot of offense from Plekanec/Gionta, as I expect them to be playing a more shutdown role.

The big key, IMO, are guys like Eller, Briere and Bourque. All 3 of these guys are capable of stepping it up and we are going to need it.

Considering Bishop might be out for the 1st round.
I'd say Habs in 7.....with my positive hat on!!

If Tampa prove anything this year, is that they're not a 1 player team.
They lost Stamkos and still won games.
They traded St-Louis and still won games
Now they just lost Bishop and they keep on winning.

Very very dangerous team......

Coaching : Tampa
5-on-5 : Tampa
Special teams : Habs
Goalie: Habs
Offence: Draw
Defence : Habs
Depth: Habs

Still......not totally confident. Long series ahead.
They've been able to shutdown our top line in each game this year.

I'm the lone vote for Bolts in 7 (so far). Purely based on speculation that we're about to blow home ice and because there's not much difference between the two teams.

With Gorges, Bouillon and Murray, our D looks atrocious. Having Chuckie, Moen and Prust out completely changes our lineup. My love-hate relationship with Gio hinges on him being on the 2nd or 3rd line. Paired with Pleks and Gally, that line produces nothing and all the Bolts have to do is shut down our 1st line. You would think our coach would notice that and do something about it.

Not having a healthy Prust-Moen-Weise line will be huge and be the difference in that series imo.

Not that confident...

Play Tinordi instead of Murray.

Don't worry we will get home ice. CBJ will dominate the Lightning tonight, then we will beat NYR and who cares if they win their last game cuz it won't mean anything.

Bolts have a strong core of players who grew up with the Norfolk Admirals two years ago, the invincibles who were unbeaten in 30 straight games and won the Calder Cup.

Coached by Cooper, that team included Johnson, Killorn, Palat, Panik and Brown upfront and Gudas and Barberio on defence.

They are all key players now, Callahan fits that group really well and gives them a true "team first" style. Stamkos is a bonus!

Lot of respect for Yzerman and the work he's done with them.

Going to be a really tough team to beat.

Habs in 7.

(For the few that don't know, there's lots of full 2014 games from the Bolts on youtube.)

The Habs Top-9 is way too small... The loss of Galchenyuk will make them even smaller... But watch a few games from the Bolts and you realize they're also small and quick. Not quite as small as the Habs, but about as physical... This is not the Bruins or last season's Sens we're playing against... It should affect the personnel decisions.

Parros: Absolutely no point of giving a roster spot to Parros. Crombeen (aka PromQueen) the only fighter on their team, sucks and gets his clock cleaned more times than not. Clarkson just recently dropped him and Moen edged him out in the past... White, Moen, Prust, Tinordi, etc... are already total overkill in the fighting department.

Murray: We're not dealing with the Sharks or Ducks...Bolts forwards are small and quick. Josh Gorges is strong enough to deal with them. Emelin could annihilate them. No point in putting Murray. He's too slow, he'll never catch them. It's trying to fit a square peg in a round hole.

If you do not have the defense to at least neutralize the opposing teams first line you are not in the playoffs.

With Galchenyuk out I think this will really be a make or break series for Eller in Montreal.

Pacioretty-Desharnais-Vanek
Eller-Plekanec-Gallagher

has potential to be a very good top 6, if Eller plays up to the level we have seen at times, and not the level he occupied for the last 75% of this season.

Bourque-Briere-Gionta
Bournival-White-Weise

is a very good bottom 6 after that.

I am confident the Habs can win this series in six games, it all depends on our guys playing up to their potential

I think Carey Price is sick of being called a playoff choker adn the confidence he has coming off the Olympics is going to be evident this year. Yeah, Therrien is going to get out-coached, it's a fact. But this is Carey's team and he's going to show it this year.

Habs in 5

I honestly think Patches will set the tone for this series as much as anyone. If he's engaged physically early and working hard to win battles and races, we're in good shape.

If it's the floaty Patches who wanders around looking for soft spots and hoping to get fed, we're in trouble. Sometimes the offence comes too easy to him and he gets in bad habits.

He needs to think power forward not sniper.

Definitely. When he's in that power forward mood he changes this whole team, he becomes almost unstoppable especially now that teams have to focus on Vanek to. He's pretty much the only great skater we have up front that can combine that kind of size and skill. Everybody else we have upfront is either too slow, too small, too soft or not skilled. Because of his speed and size he's also our best forechecker, he can create so many turnovers when he forechecks the defense. Let's hope he can take his momentum to the playoffs.

Hate to say it but Tampa is the last team in the East I would have picked to play in the first round. Habs haven't shown the ability to shutdown defensively lately that you need in the postseason. But the 5 on 5 play has been much, much better since they got Vanek. Playing Tbay is like putting a giant mirror in front of the Habs. They remind me of our team quite a bit in the style that they play. Frustrating team to play. I don't know if they can beat them. Hope I'm wrong!

The main boards' disdain for all things Canadiens is pretty evident. The funny thing is how most of them still pick Tampa over Montreal with Lindback as the goalie.
