Toronto 'strongly desired' LeClair

The Pens apparently had at least one other club think that LeClair still had a lot to offer:

But what about forwards John LeClair or Anson Carter? Ferguson declined yesterday to comment on his club's level of interest in the two, but sources confirmed he made a half-hearted pitch for Carter and strongly desired LeClair.

Toronto should start inquiring about a colostomy bag supply and walkers for the players they are chasing lately. Jeez. This team gets no younger.

Carter only signed for a million, what the hell did Fergie offer him?

Toronto would have gotten 80 games out of a Leclair-Lindros-Allison line...combined.

We didn't even sign him and yet, we are still bashed for signing old guys?

Pat Quinn should just lace'em up and be a player-coach.

Is Guy Lafleur interested in comeback v.2?

point is Leafs seem to have become ambulance chasers. Too many older/injured/damaged goods. Let me know when Deadmarsh laces up for them next.

LeClair is signed, and there is no trade offer here, so who cares a lick who liked him.

no clue why the link will not copy correctly . . . the story can be found from today if you google under 'news' from the Globe and Mail, the headline 'Toronto watches and waits.'

The story was posted 10 hours ago.

If they want him, how about LeClair for Domi?

I'm only HALF-kidding.

Average age on the Leafs is 29, I don't think that's very old.

Lately? As in the last 5 years?

Tell him how you feel then Fergy. Don't be shy. Maybe the desire is mutual.

Hey, they really wanted to go steady with Lindros, so it all worked out.

Are you for real? Lets ignore the fact that the Leafs didn't even sign the player in question, an amusing fact but one that isn't crucial to the above. Kindly view the Leafs' average age last year, and contrast it with this years. Then, kindly come back and reiterate that the team gets no younger-- and next time, try and target your incorrect statements at a real signing.

I 'strongly desired' an 'Eclair' a little while ago, but I didn't act on it, because I care about myself.

Good for the Leafs for doing the same

Anyone want to get serious?

I really didn't think LeClair served a critical need for Toronto.

I think this was the problem, JFJ got too serious too quickly nad leclair only wanted something short to fill his current needs.

It's hilarious that the Leafs are getting flak not for signing an old guy, but for apparently having lukewarm interest in him.
