If he wants to play, there will be a team that will offer him a contract.

The Hawks certainly should not be one of them.

Handzus can keep playing if he wants to.. in Russia for HC Slovan Bratislava. I would hope Bowman recognizes that he is done with the Hawks.

I've never liked when people say things like he needs to retire. Lord knows if I was in my late thirties and somebody was offering me several hundred thousand dollars to play the game I love I'd be all for it.

Handzus just needs to stop playing for my favorite team.

Good for Pirri, Florida fans seem to think he was a steal so far. Yeah, Zus would look good on the cats too.

I think what went down was basically Toews getting injured being the game-changer. Most people, myself included, thought that this would mean TT would get more ice time. Instead the team reacted by starting to take steps to ensure they have more certainly NHL-ready players (and ones without contract issues) integrated to the team for the playoffs, for the "what if..." scenarios of Toews not making it back/not being 100% healthy. Plus the home ice advantage chase, playing it more safe with more experienced players.

I think they kept him around for the reasons stated many times, him getting used to it all and seeing what was expected. Considering the decision was made after the Montreal game, I assume they also kept him around so that he would have played one/two more games IF Hawks had lost(in regulation) that one then Hawks would have been division 3rds no matter what. This was probably so that they still wanted to offer him a game/have a final look at him before next season.

What happened was probably more a result of the variables listed above/some others we do not know, however just by looking at it from the TT perspective (not saying from HIS perspective - obviously we don't know how he feels) it seems like erratic behaviour. First, publicly saying that burning a year off his contract would not be an issue did set the expectations high. Secondly, the official word was always that he was not expected to be a difference maker/"Superman"...however, by benching a 19 yo after three games on NA ice because he is not making enough of an impact certainly makes it seem they were expecting wonders from him. The completely overblown hype that surrounded his arrival wasn't really the team's fault, but you can't help but feel sorry for TT. That is basically setting someone up for not being able to meet the expectations no matter what and adding all that extra pressure.

But, like I speculated, I think how this went down was more a result of timing and different pieces of the puzzle not really fitting to give him more ice time.

Looking forward to seeing what he can do in the AHL, and possibly/hopefully in the WC

Good news, TT has gained 16 pounds since going to Rockford. Bad news, he is now an inch shorter. Icehogs list him as 5'10" 185.

I thought he played pretty well for a 19 year old, but what the **** do I know?

At least he will get some ice time in Rockford. Why this didn't happen a week ago who the hell knows.

Well I've heard about Chicago's culinary offerings but didn't think it would be this effective.

How do you know what the management has told him? What TT or Q or Stan mumbles infront of the media is irrelevant.

Plus
20 on the national junior team
I've seen him wear a 19 national team jersey as well
16 when playing in Mestis (Finland's second highest-level league)
29 at the 2012 prospect camp

The man of many numbers.
