that the luongo trade, with florida, was what prevented them from being as bad

edler and hansen doesnt reflect the value of a top 3 pick for a club like florida. It's not like any of those two players will become the difference makers on the team, whereas the player we pick will have every opportunity to grow into something great.

Change the 4th to a 3rd and I think Florida has to consider it. Not much of a drop from 2-6 this year, and Tanev is a bit underrated (which is shocking, because van fans usually overrate all of their guys lol. But Tanev us a good add)

Zero interest from FL. They could get a good d-man at #2 in Ekblad instead of trading for Edler. If the Cats drop down to 3rd or 4th, then maybe they consider it if they're not sold on the forwards there but I dont see it happening TBH.

why would florida need more quantity

and why would vancouver want to trade up if the drop isnt that big, while giving up "really good top4 d-man" in tanev

I could easily envision a trade between the Nucks and the Panthers in the off-season, since the Panthers have plenty of cap space and the Nucks presumably need to clear some.

However, the Nucks first need to hire a GM, decide what to do with Torts and decide what direction the team wants to go, which may or may not be possible depending on the willingness of vets to waive their NTC/NMC protections.

Edler Van 1st for Florida's 1st and 2nd.

I'd love to get petrovic somehow but Florida don't have the depth to make that move.

If Florida draft 3rd it makes sense. It does not if they draft 1 or 2.

It really doesnt even make that much sense at 3rd TBH. Only if they really dont like one of Bennett/Reinhart but I dont see why that would be. At 4th, it would make sense as that is where I believe most see the next tier of prospects to start at.

Edler is not worth moving back 3 or 4 spots. Especially in this draft.

Linden won't do offer sheets, so the Canucks must rely on trades and the draft. If he can possibly move up enough to get an NHL ready player, he might, but that is rare at best. I suspect he sits where he is and makes safe picks.

Florida would have to be insane to accept a trade of cast-off Canucks for their pick. If it is determined they must force a trade, they will have to offer Kesler or something useful, not spares. For this reason I doubt it!

Few years? Yeah he played well in Vancouver because he had a team in front of him that could actually compete. Only reason he wanted back on your sorry team was to be with his family.

Gillis is no longer our GM so I hope we never trade with them again. I hate every single Panther currently on our roster not named Matthias.

A Canucks fan making fun of another teams history is pretty ridiculous, both of our franchises are pathetic. No reason to start a flame war here.

it was okay when you fleeced us on the first luongo deal. now you don't want to trade with us. lou is the reason we may not get the 2nd overall in the standings. it's your fault we now have good goaltending!!! keep your sour grapes. you got good return on the luongo deal. deal with it. hopefully your fleecing the cats days are over and hopefully we never see keenan associated with the cats again!!!!!

I never started the flame war. I merely responded to the user that claimed Luongo was the only reason our Franchise was relevant for a few years. He had responded to me stating a fact that we frequently trade with Florida and they have been one of the worst teams in the NHL for many years. Go back and look at the facts. Feel free to call your Franchise pathetic, but I take pride in mine through the good and the bad.

A 2nd doesn't get you from 6 to 2. Edler and a 2nd doesn't even get you close to 2.
