They know they don't want to play the Flyers and losing to us tomorrow would guarantee them they don't play us in the 1st round. But they're probably going to play their regulars because of the rivalry and pride instead of sitting them to protect them from injury and protect them from a chance at playing us. Hopefully we stomp them to get some momentum before the playoffs start.

They should start vokoun. They don't want to beat us plus it gets him a game before the playoffs starts because they will need him

So Pitt knows that if we beat them today, we face the Rangers. I bet they lay a stinker today. Just avoid injuries and keep your head up at all times when Neal is there.

I was thinking the same..Pens might sit certain players and lay a goose egg so they know they don't have to play Philly in the 1st round, Pens want Columbus whom they've beaten all year.
Fleury in net? Or backup?

Sens fan here. This game is going to be funny to watch. Both teams want to tank to avoid possible certain match ups. Obviously we know the pens want to avoid you guys and you guys want to avoid the rangers. I could absolutely see you guys start Emery both days assuming of course the jackets don't lose in regulation today or you guys win.

The Flyers will be trying to win this one. The goal is to avoid Boston in the 1st round. Although the Rangers have had the better of the matchup over the past 2 or 3 seasons, I think the two teams are pretty even and it'd be a close series.

I would absolutely hate the idea of losing on purpose for the matchup. You'll have to play two teams from the division anyway. Who cares if it's the first or second round when they meet the Rangers? Just win.

Either way, hoping for something decisive like that 4-0 win last time against the Pens in Philly. We've been looking shaky heading into the postseason here, has me nervous.
Yeh... with the games last night the chance of facing the Bruins has pretty much dried up already. If the Flyers lose both of their remaining games they have only 34% chance of facing them. And if the Flyers get 2 points from the remaining 2 games they cannot face the Bruins.

I'd rather play the Penguins in the first round too, but the only way that is happening is if the Penguins win today. Considering the Flyers dominance at Consol, I'm not exactly in favour of losing this one, only to give the Penguins some confidence.

Just win today and take your chances with the Rangers. Playoffs are a whole new ball game, and I know this team has the ability to beat the Rangers.

I just don't want to play Boston at this point. Against anyone else in the East it could go either way, against Boston it's pretty much the general concensus that we'll all **** ourselves if we could even get Boston to seven let alone beat them.

Avoiding Boston first round means they have to win probably. So please win.

Avoiding Boston in the 1st also means they very likely play Detroit...

who from what I have seen this year match up the best vs the Bruins in the east, they seemingly give them fits for some reason.

As it stand:

Pens v BJs
Rags v Flyers

Boston v Detroit
Montreal v Tampa

Boston, Rags and Tampa are the three teams I would not be confident of beating/being in with a great shot vs... so if the Flyers can get past the Rags in the first round they could likely go to the Conference final IMO... but then they likely lose if Tampa or Boston are there. Detroit would be a toss up, I think the Flyers would beat Montreal.

In my mind:

Teams the Flyers likely beat:

Penguins
Montreal

Toss up:

BJs
Detroit

Teams they likely lose to:

Boston
Tampa
Rangers

Yeah that's about my line of thinking too. It's probably is or Detroit versus Boston and Detroit is actually pretty fearsome for a WC and matches up against Boston better then anyone else. If Detroit took out Boston that's a huge favor for everyone.

I think the Flyers stand up best against Pittsburgh and Montreal. After those two it's various shades of 50/50 (except Boston of course). Were not playing Montreal first round and Pittsburgh is a very remote chance so at this point I'll take a shade of 50/50 against a team like NY over Boston.

According to Tim Panaccio Timonen and Grossman will sit for this one, and Gill will play after being scratched 45 games. Wow.

Kunitz and Orpik will not play. Fleury will be the goalie.

At this pt i dont care who we play and i think we can take boston in a 7 gm series if we play 60 mins a game and if the bounces go our way .If we get through we will eventually have to go through boston.
