G.Reinhart to EDM

Per @craigbutton

Edmonton will trade their first to NYI for G.Reinhart if Ekblad is taken before EDM picks

(Mod Edit) Button is speculating.

Mactavish is not smart if he does that.

wait so it's Sam Reinhart or Bennett for Reinhart?

Rarely see prospects of their level get moved 1 for 1.

This doesn't make much sense for the Isles, Reinhart is pretty much NHL ready and fits their need like a glove. Why would they trade him for a pick? Weird.

This isn't exactly what Button tweeted. His tweets seemed like he was just speculating.

This isn't actually a rumor, just Button posting his thoughts.

Makes more sense if he trade Yak for G.Reinhart+ and then draft S.Reinhart with the Oilers pick.

Must believe in Pokka and Pulock as well as De Haan who is already up.

If it happens, this could be a brother for brother trade.

Reinhart is a LHD, Pokka and Pulock are RHD. The faith management has in Pulock and Pokka should have no effect on what they do with Reinhart.

This all doesn't make sense.

It's speculation, not a rumor. And honestly, it's stupid speculation on Button's part. Those emojis are thought bubbles on Twitter.

Thought Pulock and Reinhart played the same side. De Haan is lefty, so I guess that could be where the confidence is from.

They should just build another trade around getting Sam Reinhart and bring in Max Reinhart as well.

They won't. The only thing the Oilers need worry about if they covet Ekblad is a team besides themselves or Buffalo winning the lottery and taking him.

Also, G Reinhart for the Oilers' pick would be brutal for Edmonton.

Pokka and Pulock are developing nicely, but Reinhart is the crown jewel. CdH is our best overall d-man, but they don't make Griff expendable. Snow does not part with his prospects and they rely almost solely on the draft to get their high end talent. Reinhart has been developing really well and many assume he'll be in the NHL at some point in the season next year.

If the Isles wanted Ekblad or something then maybe it would make an ounce of sense, but the Isles are doing that trade because Ekblad isn't available according to Button. Makes zero sense.

Doesn't make sense for either team.

NYI are/were high on him IIRC, and spent a fair bit of time developing him. Trading him now before NHL impact makes little sense.

Oilers need vets, not more green high ceiling prospects. Ok, scratch that, this seems right up the Oilers alley of idiotic moves.

So it makes no sense from the Isles perspective.

Makes zero sense for the Isles. I wouldn't be surprised if they tried tho, Oilers management seems to love anybody who comes through the Oil Kings.

Also doesnt make much sense for Edmonton. Oiler have a log jam of young lefties (Nurse, Marincin, Klefbom), and while Reinhart is a blue chip prospect, the Oilers either need to draft a center, or trade the pick for immediate help

No sense for Islanders to move a prospect they havent tried in the NHL yet either

The Oilers need a veteran defenseman not another kid.

Why would either teams do this?

And yes it is a possibility that Ekblad could be gone by the time EDM gets to pick.

Someone else could win the lottery, or Florida could actually finish behind EDM.
