Even their own coach said they aren't a high offense team and need to get that through their heads, it isn't the '80s anymore.
Players and rank in Goals
Perron 28 23rd
Hall 27 28th
Eberle 27 28th
RNH 18 111th
Yak 11 210th
gagner 10 230th
Smyth 10 230th

Flyers;
Giroux 27 28th
Simmonds 27 28th
Voracek 21 73rd
Read 21 73rd
Schenn 20 85th
Lecavalier 20 85th
Hartnell 20 85th
Couturier 12 195th

We lack Goal scoring and specifically Even Goalscoring beyon Fwd #5

Competative teams are 8-10 fwds deep.

though philidelphia benefits from playing in the east.

I know with Hall in the line up the oilers were
14-8-3 .620 against the east.

8-4-3.633 against the lower teams in the west.

We ere 0-18-2 against the best teams in the west with Dubnyk, Labarbera, Bryz.
we are 6-9 with Scrivens and Fasth.

Our issue is Fwd 5-10

Thread isn't about the Oilers or the Flyers guys

On Topic: Really excited to see how Gaudreau does on Sunday. He had some pretty good chemistry with Monahan at the training camp last summer.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him spend a large portion in the AHL next year. Will take some adjustment getting used to bigger, stronger, faster players. Also getting used to a much longer (games played) season.

Maybe if we put enough pylons in front of the net, he won't score.

Hmmm - good for the Flames. To be honest I didn't think he would sign with them. I thought he'd wait and see what the free agent world looked like next August.

And if Arnold comes along too then it's a bonus.

For the NHL I hope this kid is the real deal because he's a damn exciting prospect.

As an Oilers fan... well, I still wish him the best of luck, but I really don't want the team to be up against him and Monahan for the next decade+

Sign him quick, keep him around.

A lot of comparisons are being made between Gaudreau and Paul Kariya/Martin St. Louis. Arnold is a solid prospect as well. It's a good day to be a Flames fan.

Honestly, I'm real happy for the Flames and their fans. That's quite the infusion of talent.

My opinion is that Gaudreau is going to be a star.

As an Oiler fan who cheers for the Flames 2nd . I say good for them . It can never hurt to have depth . I also think the Flames rebuild will be shorter and less painful them my Oilers

I hope he has some offensive punch(in the NHL). The Flames could certainly use it.

Hasn't Calgary put up more goals than anyone in the league since the Olympic break? I'm positive I heard that on the radio a few weeks ago.

Doesn't matter. Our biggest problem is lacking the high end skill to consistently win games. When you lead the league in 1-goal games and you're drafting top 5, that indicates to me that they can play some D. The goaltending is not elite, but it's certainly something they can work with. The Flames run into trouble because the three best offensive players on the team are Mike Cammalleri, Jiri Hudler and Curtis Glencross. After that, you have three defensemen, a 19 year old rookie and Mikael Backlund as your best offensive threats.

To take the next step, the Flames NEED Gaudreau and Baertschi to be legit top six guys.

Quote:
We are excited to welcome both Bill Arnold and Johnny Gaudreau to professional hockey after reaching agreements today on entry level contracts with the Calgary Flames,” said Flames President of Hockey Operations Brian Burke. “Bill is a solid two-way player with good offensive instincts combined with power and grit. Congratulations to Johnny on capping off an amazing college season with the Hobey Baker Award, a very well deserved achievement. Johnny is a gifted player with high end skill and smarts. We look forward to having both players, as they take the next step forward in contributing to the success of the Calgary Flames.

Both will make their debut on Sunday against Vancouver.

Awesome for the Flames, I'm very curious how Gaudreau's game translates to the pros.
