It'd be better to have Shayne as insurance in the playoffs if a couple defenders go down in the playoffs over Hal Gill.

If that's the case it would be great to get him a few NHL minutes today just for some experience.

But I doubt it will happen. Can he sign today, play a few games with the Phantoms, then get called up in the middle of playoffs if needed?

Yeah, I believe so. Someone said he is on the reserve list for the playoffs, which means if he signs he's very likely to be a black ace.

Me either. Of course I have followed the stats and other posters views on him. But watching him for the first time this weekend, certainly left me with a WOW opinion. I hope his game translates to the NHL. Wouldn't it be nice if WE got a great player with a non 1st rounder for once.

Maybe the pipedream of him playing in the playoffs was a little much. I just want to see him signed and ready to go next year with the Phantoms then getting called up hopefully. Al Morgani just tweeted that scouts think he needs a year of seasoning with the Phantoms before NHL action as well.

I understand finishing your college degree is important but if that's the main thing holding him up from signing his deal the Flyers wouldn't be too happy I think. After your career you can always go back to finish the last year and get your degree. It's not like you won't have the money. He can win a spot on this team next year maybe or be one of the first in lines for a NHL call up. He doesn't seem like the one who wants immediate time on an NHL roster.

I think they are allowing him to enjoy the Championship win with all his teammates. They will get a hero's welcome back at the school and I have no issue with him being part if that. He worked all year for the win, let him reap the celebration of that win.

I do think he will still be signed this week.

Well, if he signs after the season ends, he's not eligible to play in the playoffs

Crap...forgot that part. I don't think he was in the playoff plans anyways. But this weekend might have changed things.

He just won a National Championship.. Philly is letting him enjoy the ride home and the HUGE party I'm sure the school will be throwing. Philly has a gem... My guess he will sign in offseason after enjoying his championship after he talks over everything with his family. No need to rush and get him signed NOW

I loved his answer to the question "What did you think of your individual performance in tonight's game?" This guy is a keeper.

Well say he goes back to school for another season and signs next year, he would sign a 2 year ELC. Get him in the system. Calgary had to make the sacrifice to get Gaudreau to sign.

Ghost is UNBELIEVABLE! Im watching the game right now and this guy is a lot better then i thought. He easily could slide in to the 2nd PP unit with Streit. Only issue is he could get pushed around. Looks very frail. If this guy puts on 10 more lbs and maybe a year in the AHL he could be a ****ing beast of a d man.

He couldn't play in the playoffs because he wasn't on the Flyers reserve list, unlike the Rangers who put Krieder on their reserve list so he could play in the playoffs.. There is zero point for him to stay in Philly since today was the only game he could play this season.

He was on the reserve list. If they sign him before the day is over he will be eligible to play.

Here are my thoughts on what the right course of action for Shayne Gostisbehere is. Obviously, others have different viewpoints.

Gotta believe he's going to sign here now that he won the championship, no? I'm coming around on Ghost. Not that I ever was really down on him, I was just skeptical because of his size. Looking forward to (hopefully) seeing him in camp next season.

Its the first time I watch him play (ncaa finals), but is it me or he remind me of Subban. Im refering to his style all over the ice, always hustling and skill move. I watched alot of Subban when he was junior in the ohl.
