I don't like how soft this team is. All night the Flyers were running Crosby, no answer. Flyers are telling Megna to keep his head up, no answer.
Why weren't the Pens targeting Giroux? Did anyone even make contact with Giroux all game? It's easier to get Crosby off his game when they're taking runs at him all night. Giroux could carry a couple of eggs in his pocket and wouldn't break them.
I really don't give a damn about who we play 1st round. We got no chance at a cup this seaosn with the way this team continuoously manages to find a way to crap the bed. Flower has been average at best since hte Olympic break and that softie GWG is basically just a sample of what I'm expecting from him as of next week. We just aren't solid enough defensively to compensate for weak goaltending.
**** this team. MAF was brilliant as usual vs a tough team.
I'd give Giroux the Hart based on this game alone. It really is pathetic how spineless this team is.
And the best part is that there will be zero accountability after we get swept in round 1.
And at that point, the "accountability" card falls into the lap of management. NOT the coaching staff in Bylsma. I'm not on the "Shero needs to go" hate train like others, but if that becomes a reality and nothing changes (coaching staff, players), I will board the "Shero needs to go" train.
Overall I'm encouraged by today's game. The Pens dominated for long stretches and had some rotten luck.
Fleury getting badly out dueled was the difference, and you don't like to see that. We'll just have to hope he gets it together because we don't have a choice. I sincerely believe he still has it in him.
I think I would have been fine with the loss after the first 50-55, but the last 5 or so left a foul taste in my mouth being they were so reminiscent of the last few playoffs; D breakdowns and bad goaltending.
- Dan playing 3 lefties on PP1
- Dan playing 3 righties on pp2
- Crosby, not for not trying (it's obvious) but because he just doesn't shoot. Not sure if this is only because it doesn't matter at this point, but it seems to be more and more of a thing these past couple weeks, where he will literally do anything to pass instead of shoot. Hope he gets a little more selfish come Wednesday
I would rather the Pens to face Philly in round one. Either summon what you need to overcome that test and build some mettle for the rest of the playoffs, or lose right away and force (hopefully) Shero to make personnel changes. SO I hated the outcome.
