We couldn't have hoped for a better bracket in the east. The west team is probably going to come out pretty battered too.

Indeed, on paper it looks ideal for us.

Really would seem as if goal tending is the only matter that can realistically prevent us from getting to the second round. Our matchup advantages as regards the skaters are such that not even Dan should be able to **** it up, even if he stays with Glass and Adams.

We have reached the part of the season where I will be taking out the voodoo dolls to see if I can manufacture non life threatening injuries for those two just the same though.
Just don't hold your breaths on that, it hasn't been working on Bylsma.

Bylsma, Glass, Adams, Orpik and Scuderi are going for ice cream on Tuesday!

Oops, abducted by Aliens until July.

I'm happy to see Columbus finally make the playoffs again. Should be a pretty easy matchup though. 4-1 Pens. I think Bob might steal one.

Couldn't have asked for a better matchup.

Horton is out so that's a big blow to them. Bob and Fleury will be the difference makers, unfortunately.

Yep, it really ended up (on paper anyhow) going in the right direction for us. Now lets see if the Pens can take advantage of it!

Finally, something I can agree with. Fleury is the top issue, not Bylsma.

The Blue Jackets might have a lot to look forward to in this series.

We really need Geno back.
Hopefully he has a nice little stretch of recovery and feels good enough for Game 1 but i'll take a Game 3 start which would give him another week plus a day.

Pens in 5, Bob can definitely steal a game.

Too much offense from the Pens, especially if the Jackets take penalties.

They should have a full lineup correct?

We (generally) thought the Isles series would be a cakewalk, and thought the Sens series would be close.

Expect the inexplicable. Particularly when Fleury's in net. All Columbus has to do is get pucks deep and get in front. No snipes necessary.

The brackets turned out in our favor even though every single one of those teams can beat us handily in a 7 games series. If there is a cup...it will hard earned.

We looked pretty bad today considering the playoffs are right around the corner. There was no peak...there is no getting hot...there is no chemistry...this feels like a last minute adult gong show team that on a road trip for a beer infused weekend tournament. Who knows how it will turn out.

Lines...let's talk about lines. IMHO, it's simple:

Kunitz-Crosby-Stemps/Bennett
Jokinen-Malkin-Neal
Sutter-Goc-Bennett/Stemps
Harry Z-Vitale-Megna
Glass-Adams-Engo-Gibbons

That's exactly what they have been doing against us this season.... except the lack of snipes got them 0-5-0.
They carried play and 'deserved' more in at least three of those games.

So how do you expect the Pens to be Bylsma'd out of the playoffs?

Not matching lines?

Not adjusting to other teams taking the stretch pass away leading to odd man breaks the other way?

Not adjusting to other teams taking Malkin and Crosby away and daring the other Pens to beat them?

Overuse of Gladams-Scudorpik?

Underuse of Bennett?

Some new torture?

Step right up and place your bets.

I hate how some of us are expecting this series to be a cakewalk...that is exactly what we thought about the Islanders series and that one gave us hell...give the BJs credit, they are in the playoffs for a reason. I fully expect us to win, but it will not be easy whatsoever

Columbus doesn't have the team speed that the Isles had nor a star like Tavares. I'm not one who in general takes another team lightly but come on, it's as if we got a bye into the second round.

It is worth noting that Fleury was the first star of the game in 2 of the 3 games against Columbus he played, as well.

Fleury is susceptible to anything involving traffic, and goals will be allowed that way, but the lack of sniper worries should, hopefully, keep him from overplaying things so much.

I fully expect him to have at least one awful game, but I think this is a good match-up for Fleury to get some momentum. If he falls apart against the Blue Jackets here then his days have to be numbered.

I think you're seriously underestimating CBJ. Regular season success does not equal playoff success, you'd think that lesson would have hit home with Boston last year.

C'bus isn't going to be a cake walk.

Not true. We all Sid watch out for the islanders speed. We knew it could cause issues. Same as Toronto last year.

Many of us alllllll year have given Columbus props in the around the NHL thread. They play above their ability. At the same time, we just match up well against them. It reminds me of Ottawa last year. We should win in five. Unless an unsung hero of Columbus steps up and bylsma/fleury do their best playoff **** up... We should win. Pretty easily, too. That takes nothing away from Columbus. I love their team game this season.

We just match up well.

Seriously, if the team has the same mentality as you, we're utterly ****ed. Columbus knows they're the underdog and they're gonna bring their hard forechecking game. We sure as hell better be ready to counter with speed rather than get sucked into after whistle **** that'll be bound to happen

As bad as Bylsma is, even he was able to see Fleury for what he was last spring...and he pulled him.

If Fleury didn't lose us the Isles series (because we pulled him just in time), then I doubt he'll lose us this series. Especially now that we have TWO options behind him, instead of one.
